Help! Iphone Issue
 

Ok I know there is a big iphone thread but I need some pretty urgent help. I am up in northern BC. I a rogers 3gs jailbroken and unlocked iphone. Since there is only Telus/Bell up here I switched sim cards with the gf who has a telus iphone. It's been working great blah blah blah until i my phone was just stuck at the apple start up screen. I thought no big deal I'll just restore and rejailbreak. Well I have done the restore but now itunes is saying that I need the proper sim card for my carrier to activate (unbrick) the phone.. and well my rogers one is across the province and i don't go home for another 2 weeks. Any idea on how I can activate without my rogers sim card? thanks.

what is it stuck on, that screen that says to connect to itunes and insert a sim card with no pin lock? if so, just jailbreak it with blackra1n.

I did jailbreak with blackra1n and it is still stuck on that screen, even after I rebooted it a couple times just to make sure

Sounds like a tethered jailbreak. You have to run blackra1n every time you restart the phone.

It's not that... I've had my phone jailbroken with blackrain since it came out and have only once had to run blackra1n when it died on me.. and I've restarted/turned off/had at die hundreds of other times.. It's that I had to fully restore and now I cannot unbrick because I don't have the sim card that came with the phone.. and I can't run blacksnow to unlock because it's stuck on the connect to intunes screen

You'll need to hacktivate your phone. You should be able to do that with redsn0w depending on the version of firmware. You also might be able to find a custom firmware that's been hacktivated and jailbroken that you can just flash onto your phone.

blacksnow? you need blackra1n by geohotz. i'm assuming your itunes says insert compatible sim card into iphone blah blah, and your iphone just shows the connect to itunes screen. if yes, then blackra1n will solve this issue. i'll bet my nuts on it. just run blackra1n, and you'll have the normal iphone screen again, then just unlock it after.

Sorry I have been using Blackra1n. Blacksnow is the actual unlocker inside blackra1n that you use from the phone once blackra1n is loaded. As for redsnow I have a 3GS 3.1.2 unlocked with blacksnow. Will redsnow work for that?

I've been doing some more reading and yes most of you are right.. I should just be able to run blackra1n and it should hacktivate.. but it's not working. I may be able to get my hands on a rogers sim from someone else up here just to activate. If all else fails I'll try that.

Update. I restored the phone again and ran blackra1n again and this time it worked! Thanks for all your help! Now just to find an internet connection so i can dl blacksnow...

just enable wifi or use internet tethering from wherever you're posting from?

Yup everything is all better now. I got onto some wifi and was having data issues until i found out that I had to manually put in the APN address? That was weird but other then that it's working great and for some reason my cell has a lot better reception now then it did before up here. I don't know if it's the signal up here or if I just had too much crap on it before that may have messed it up.

ya the 3gs is kind of weird, sometimes the jailbreak doesnt work the first or second time around lol...
