Where to get soldering done in Burnaby? I'm trying to get a transistor and three capacitors soldered onto a circuit board. I've called MRO and IT electronics and they are not able to do it. (MRO does not offer any soldering service according to the rep.) Is there anywhere that can do this at a reasonable price? (this is for the circuit board on a gauge cluster) |
maybe try soundworks? or RP Electronics? |
Try calling one of the game console Mod Chip guys. They are pretty handy with a soldering iron and will work for cheap. |
Cant you do it by yourself??? I'm pretty sure you will be denied most of the time. Becuase you are getting someone to solder parts that arent purchased throught them so what would happen if they broke your board or short circut the board. Then your SOL. Soldering is super easy and you should have no problem in doing it. Save yourself the hassle. |
Do it yourself, irons and flux/solder is cheap, will take you 5 min and learn yourself a new life skill! |

Just practice on some disposable components first. It's a handy skill and it's really not that difficult. |
There is an actual technique to soldering something. Just don't overheat the board or you might cause more damage. If you're soldering something small make sure to get a fine tipped soldering gun and adjust the heat to a lower setting. I'd suggest bringing it in if you're soldering a tiny contact. That actually requires some proper skill. If you don't have stable hands, and aren't tool savvy then just bring it to someone to have it done. At least if they fuck up, you can blame them. I've had people bring shit in they attempted to fix themselves and they melted the board and joined a couple points that weren't suppose to connected. |
The issue that I have is that: 1)hands aren't that steady 2)the parts being replaced aren't easy to get at 3)i'd have to buy parts to clean off the old solder on the circuit board Honestly I'd rather pay someone to do it then do it myself. Years of coffee drinking have put a toll on my steadiness. |

use some flex paste over the area u wanted to solder and bamm all done  |
I'll do it for $5. :) But you have to bring the parts over to my house, and I'm not liable if something breaks. Hopefully you have the board apart from the rest of the cluster already. Unfortunately I'm in Vancouver, not Burnaby, so it will be a bit of a drive for you if you decide to take me up on my offer. |
lol...its so easy to solder. 30 bux iron at CDN tire + a solder sucker for 10 bux and some solder and ur done. Get flux cored solder its easier to solder. |
