broken xbox 360 with no error code i'm not a hardcore gamer but i do like to turn on my 360 once in a while when i have time. just so that i'm free for a few months and i would like to finish gta4. fire it up and play through one mission and than all of the sudden the speakers made a horrible grinding noise, the game freezes with many vertical lines through it. no error code by the xbox and i can still hear the game disc spinning but no response from the console I hold on the power button to shut it down. try again with same disc, same fuck up screen after finish loading the screen. same with all the other disc i own. next thing i try is to have no disc in the drive and bootup a game store on the harddrive. it works fine. than i put in a dvd and try to play that it works fine granted i only try the above two item and left it on for not even 5 mins and than i try my gta again. same problem. restart the console. now the problem occurs on the dashboard, i can boot it up count to 10 and it would make a grinding noise thru speaker than freeze with vertical line. restart again now it occurs during bootup on the xbox 360 screen. no error code no RROD. wtf is going on?:( i brought the 360 in 07 so any warranty it may have has long been expired. I did a quick google and no result came up, seem like most ppl are getting RROD or some kind of error msg. i try disconnecting everything from AV cable to power to the harddrive and replugging it still the same. sounds and look like a cable connection problem to me but i try replugging everything and it hasn't been move at all since i got it so no chance or having a damage cable. help guys?:(:(:( |
i think its got a big problem...sell it to me for $50 bucks...lol... |

op: i suggest u try getting RROD so atleast u can claim it through 3 year warranty lol. im not sure if it can be done tho. |
what you have is the precursor to the RRoD. more or less, you will get the RRoD eventually. check the build date on the back, there's a three year extended manufacturer warranty against the RRoD and E74 from that build date (possibly from the purchase date but I've always had to run off of the build date). Since you got it in 07 you still have some time to work with (I hope). To get it fixed you go through the MS support site, you have to go through a bunch of their stuff where you make an account and reg the console to you, go through some more crap and then confirm it's still dead. You should be able to get the shipping label easily, either they mail it to you or they send you one you can print off. As far as the actual full on RRoD, well I don't know how much they really check. The first one I sent in I got an email saying they recieved it around 10, then 45 minutes later an email saying it couldnt be repaired and they were sending me a new one (they will never actually repair your console, you'll get a different one back). So just telling them it's dead may be enough, otherwise just keep using it as much as you can til it does RRoD. If you want to try to force a RRoD there are ways to help it along, but I won't post those publicly as technically doing that is illegal (even though it's a well known fact 360's are poorly designed and fail like mad). If you have any questions about the warranty process feel free to shoot me a PM, I've sent 5 of these pieces of shit into MS so I know the deal quite well by now. |

i didn't force it to RROD but today i went and got a new cable to try it out hoping it to be a simple solution. When i hook everything up the RROD appears :haha: restart it a few times 4/5 it would RROD 1/5 would display the symptom i posted above. so I went to the MS 360 service site, fill out everything and got a email confirmation. I didn't see the option to have them sent me a prelabel shipping box anywhere? How can i request this? I'm not wasting a good box to ship this in.... I just look int he back of the console and the manufacture date is 2006/07:mad: doesn't the warranty start the day you buy the console not the day it left the factory? anyways can MS refuse my warranty in this case? I have original receipt that state i brought it back in 2007/07 should i photocopy that and sent it in along with the console so there won't be any delay or so MS won't jew me? |
if u have original receipt, they will go by purchase date, if not, they will go by build date. in this case, since u have receipt, it should go by purchase date. also, they "should" send u a paid parcel box for u to return, u have to go pick it up at fedex outlets. atleast thats what happened to me when i called in about a year ago for something else. |
I believe MS gets informed when the console is sold, ie when you buy it, they scan the barcode on the back of the console (I think) so they know when the warranty started on it. If it let you put your claim through, you're good to go, if your warranty was up it wouldn't have let you request it. They won't send boxes anymore, you'll have to box it up and put the label on it, I got printable labels by email, my friend for a sticker one mailed to him. Then go drop it off at whoever it says is shipping it. Turnaround time from BC is probably a couple weeks as the facility is in Toronto. |
honestly, there is a guy on CL who will fix it for 30 bucks. think his name is tom. it will probably be easier and faster for you. |
^ Honestly, I repair 360's. To repair one as well as a refurb from MS you need a machine that costs at least $3500. You don't even know if the technique the guy uses is one of the better ones, or how long it will hold for. |
Damn look like underscore is right no more boxes from ms :( how do I pack the box? I ain't paying for those bubble package fillings.... Posted via RS Mobile |
I just stuffed it in a box and padded it a bit with some crumpled up paper. the cases are pretty hard and you're not gonna be getting the same one back anyways. |

Well yeah, the 360 has so many design flaws it's not even funny. It is pretty much a given that any 360 can fail very very easily. What you did, and what MS does, are completely different things though (and I'm guessing what I do and what you did are very different as well). I never understood why people who have had their console fail 2, 3 or more times would go and give MS more of their money. |

wow alot of bullshit fanboi shit in here, that i wont even bother to read. pain and simple: RROD is covered by MS for 3 years, regardless of issue (as long as its not modded or seals broken) claim u had a 3 RROD and it will be covered. MS has no (and honestly dont care) way of verifying u had a 3RROD. 1) go to: https://service.xbox.com/servicehome...t=en-ca&scrx=1 2)have shipping label mailed to u or print it 2)take it to purolator or ups (what ever shipping label is for) 3)wait 2 weeks and volia new 360. |
