why would BCIT brag about the number of stupid/lazy people that can't keep up with the Term 1 course load for ECET? If the student can't even do basic Ohm's law after one term then that student doesnt deserve to have a job in the field after 3 months and screwing everything up. I can't count the number that drop out because they just sleep at the back of the lecture or use the internet while everyone else takes notes.

As for OP, I recommend you do Computer Control or Automation. my buddies in ECET that took Telecom switched to automation after 1 term, since they found it pretty useless job-wise. I heard Telecom is the easiest of all the options though, so if you just want the diploma in your hand then go for it. Computer Control from what i heard is the hardest.

The people I know that came out of Automation and Computer Control got jobs mainly in the manufacturing field as PLC programmers and technicians, and also building controls. Companies like Delta Controls, Johnson Controls always hire BCIT grads right out of graduation, but only if youre a top student. they usually send one guy every year to talk to the upcoming grads and get interviews, and usually 1 or 2 get hired before they even take final exams.

well I got a letter from EI about the EEITI program which I didn't know about. if I enroll in full time school I can collect EI for up to 2 full years. and EI is like $1800/m I think?

so I could go back to school for 2 years and collect $1800/m of free money. Too bad I'd probably have to sit on my ass until Sept though before doing anything.

Im in this program right now and I just started my 3rd term after doing 1 year of co-op all last year. Co op is a really good experience actually. I would recommend anyone doing this program to give co op a try. You learn a different side of things out in the industry.

reading the grad outcome from the website, it says that automoation has 84% working full time and more chicks while computer control is only 67%

also how do i get into these course?

do i just apply to them or have to take common core first?

you take the first two terms, during the second term, all the program heads will get together and have an orientation presenting their specific option, after that the students have 1-2 weeks to sign an option form and give back to the 1st year program head.

I'm in telecom and it is definitely the tougher of the options.

you can breeze through power and automation.

I have done power as well previously.

Lol chicks. Automation has 1 girl. Telecom has 2 girls. lol.

the ratio is like 15:1 or 20:1 lol. If you're looking for chicks look for another program.
