toner refills

so after years of reliable service, the toner in my hp laserjet 1020 suddenly died on me and is printing half faded pages. hp.com lists the refill toner at around 70$, which is obviously too expensive, so im looking to refill my toner.

the thing is i need my printer running again asap (its jsut for school, not a business or anything, but still within two days or so), so im wondering if i should have my refill done locally, or try the internet.

from a previous post i found a member recommended tonerkits.com. are they reliable? they say on the site usually ships wihin 24hours. im also confused about the bottle vs. case (10/case). how many bottles do i need for a refill? since my last toner lasted around 3 years, i dont want to have extra bottles lying around.

so colesnotes:

1. please recommend me a good site for refills. if this is going to take too long, (more than 3 days) please recommend me a good place locally in vancouver that can have hte refill done reliably.
2. if im going to order online, how many bottles do i need per refill? just one?

says 11$ per bottle (model Q2612)

thanks!

just get a new laser printer @ NCIX for like... 50 bucks and recycle your old one @ S.Army for free

New printers only come with half filled toners.

monoprice.com sells remanufactured toners. Might be cheaper than local.

It's usually shipped within 24 hours, that means they usually send it out within 24 hours of you clicking the order button. Then the package will begin its journey to Canada.

It's usually one bottle per toner cartridge. I've found for the most part, one bottle is more than enough and I usually have a little bit left over.

You might want to do some research into how easy (or hard) it is to refill the toner. Some refill kits want you to drill a hole in your cartridge so you have somewhere to fill the cartridge. Some people may not be comfortable with doing so.

I have no affiliation with these guys - they were just the first result when I Googled Vancouver toner refill (http://www.inktonermart.com/hp-q2.html) and they want $39.99 for a refilled toner cartridge. If you don't like the idea of being without toner, just buy a refilled cartridge and then keep your empty around and order the refill kit from wherever you like and keep it aside for later use. (I think DealExtreme also sells the toner refill for pretty cheap as well)

One "trick" you can try if it's printing unevenly is to take the toner cartridge out of the printer and shake it side to side to redistribute the toner within the cartridge. You can probably get a few more pages out of the toner that way.

$70 is cheaper then what mine costs......$100 to replace the toner

Monoprice is cheaper than getting them refilled locally, even after shipping

http://www.tonerparts.ca/

out in north van but they don't have a store front - online only (i believe). i've used them a couple times and they have great customer service.
