ICBC claim... Revscene Vendors?? Hey there, I was wondering if there are any Revscene sponsored vendors that do car/audio sales and install that can install my system through an ICBC claim? I don't know how the claim thing really works. But i would like to purchase a deck and get it installed by someone other than BestBuy or FS, because I would like a quality job done. |
Well, you're on the right track right there! Most legitimate shops (large or small) will be able to handle your ICBC claim. In fact, I believe all sponsors here can do that for you. I know that we do them just about every day! SoundsGood Soundworks Rise All sponsors here. |
soundsgood did my claim! they were great! |
OT, but just curious as to how the claim works coz' i heard icbc only insures $1k of your equipment (show 'em the receipts when you make a claim). they can also insure more of your stuff (in value) if you pay some extra $, right? now, if a claim is filed, who picks the stuff to be installed? is it just based on value on what you filed for? thanks in advance! |
you go in for an icbc appointment at the icbc facility. you bring your receipts. they do their number crunching, weather the deck is still available or not, stuff like that, and depreciation. they tell you if u can get ur deck replaced. you cry because they wont cover any cds other than the 1 inside the deck. you cry some more as they depreciated ur deck's value by a lot. you go to one of the RS audio sponsors and start planning out ur next system build + the alarm that you should have installed the first time =D if you got standard auto insurance, then u are covered up to $1000 bucks for audio. |

If you want to insure more than $1000 you will need to bring your reciept to an autoplan agent and get the special coverage. They will only insure in $1000 increments. Remember to factor in the 15% depreciation each year. So if your car gets broken into and you lost everything. You would call ICBC to setup an appointment, then an estimator/adjuster will go over the car. You show them all the reciepts and they will give you a claim form. You then would bring the claim form to your ICBC stereo vendor of choice. Then you're pretty much done. Just remember you likely need the stereo gear to be professionally installed to be covered. Reciepts should be in your name also. It's really 50/50 if you buy second hand and the reciepts in someone elses name. Otherwise take detailed pictures of your stereo system in your car and record serial numbers. |
