Weightlifting shoes by Adidas
 

Anyone know where I can find them in the Lower Mainland?

just wear cheap chucks. unless you want powerlifting shoes.

Word, nothing much better than Cons or Nike Free unless you have specific needs

I use those addidas goodyear shoes. Anything that's flat is good. You don't want to wear those nike shox or w.e cuz you want to feet flat on the ground when your doing your exercises.

I either use my DC's or Frees.

Try adidas gazelles. They're perfectly flat on the bottom. Weight lifting shoes are similar

You need a hard sole and they are very different.

There is nothing local. Well- you may be able to buy a used pair from the Semi Weightlifting club.


Are you weightlifting (not too be confused with bodybuilding/powerlifting)? And why have you settled on the adidas ones in particular? Which model do you want as well?

Absolute must if you are weightlifting. You can get away wich Chucks for strict deadlifting.

I have the adidas adistars as well as the ironworks. You will lift just as well with the powerfirms which are Canadian and much cheaper. The Do-Wins are another popular choice.

How are the Adistars compared to the Ironwork?

I am really indifferent. They have 3 straps as oppposed to 2 on the ironworks. The extra strap is not a huge benefit since adidas shoes seem to fit narrow in general. I guess if you have narrow feet it may help your feet from sliding too much. Again, this is really pertaining to weightlifting and such lifts as the jerk. The heel is nearly identical to me, and I would measure but I am sure you can find those specs somewhere (fortified iron, adidas site).

One thing I did notice though, the ironworks seem to hold up better than the adistars. You really can't go wrong with either one- and if you have the loot the new adistars are absolutely sexy.

Do they fit true to size? Or did you have to buy a different size? I think I'm leaning towards the Ironworks. Thanks for your opinion.

I would say, order your dress shoe size but with the socks you would wear when lifting. They fit very much like a lace up dress shoe. Half a size smaller is the norm and it worked for me.

Just wanted to add, weightlifting shoes are just that- for weightlifting (the olympic sport). You may use them for squatting (even for squatting- consider if you like a high bar or low bar position) but should be reserved for the athlete that spends a considerable amount of time on the platform. They are expensive and you do not need them for bicep curls.
