Taking american songs or at least the tunes happens a lot in asia. I think in HK/China/Taiwan, I think they just do it without royalties or anything, cause I can't imagine they would give credit. In Japan, it's probably somehow linked to sony, so sony might have the clout to push it through. Not sure how that stuff floats in korea. But just because somebody resamples or uses the back tune doesn't mean it's plagiarism.
