PS3 acting funny...

I know you guys might think I'm crazy, but this just started happening today..

I was watching a movie via PS3 Media Server on my PS3, and it started performing random functions. It would start rewinding the movie, and then play again, or stop it completely. Once back to the XMB, this behaviour continued. The PS3 would randomly scroll up and down, and some times start playing the movie it was on.
It was as if I was sitting on the remote or something, hitting random buttons.

Obviously, I wasn't sitting on the BD remote, and I had all of my controllers in front of me, all turned off (no lights). I then tried to remove the batteries from the BD remote, and the same thing happens. It seems to be about one random button press every minute or so.

I just turned off my PS3, so I'll see if the problem persists after turning it back on later.. any suggestions other than my PS3 being possessed?

might be a firmware issue, my brother has weird problems with his too. could also be a bad controller, one of his just randomly shuts off so he doesn't use it anymore but it will sometimes just pause his game while we're in the middle of a game online. it's weird cause he'll have to power up the bad controller to get it off the shut down screen

If you can, sync your controllers to another PS3 and disable your BR remote so that they can't do anything to your PS3. Than start slowly adding the controllers back to your PS3 and watch movies, hopefully you can pick up on which one is sending the random signals. If that isn't it then I would assume some kind of interference, maybe someone tried to connect a headset to their phone but snagged your remote by mistake?

my controller was acting weird the other day too, same problem as yours.

I just powered it off, and turn it back on, and everything is fine now.

fingers crossed.
