Oldschool Volvos are wicked. I'd love to own a 240 someday.

GabAlmighty 01-31-2010 09:31 PM

Hahah, sorry Chris. I asked but you never responded. I assumed and made an ass out of you and me:P

Well there's something on craigslist right now, I wanna get it. It's $200 for a decent set of stocks rims and tires for a 240... Comes with a car too!

Hahaha, that car and motor are quite the little sluts. I think the motors been passed around and the shell of that car is now Pearl White with orange accents

There was one at the UBCSCC autox on Sunday. Boy did that thing put out a lot of smoke!

Hmm, I don't recognize who's that is.. Does it have a cage? There's a guy at UFV with a nice one and there's also someone in burnaby? who has a lemons ready one.. Don't recognize that one although there are a few modded volvos in Vancouver that're doing their own thing.

Looks pretty nice though..

noob question
which type of engine is the glorified volvo fanatics would love to have?
are there certain ones that is good ?

GabAlmighty 02-07-2010 03:16 PM

There's the Redblocks and Whiteblocks basically. Redblocks are what game in 200/700/900's. Whiteblocks came in all everything post 850. Whiteblocks require some fab work to get them into a reblock car, but damn they're sick if you swap them in.

Putting a 16v head (stock 8v) on a redblock and then boosting it to shit will give you lots of power, or you can go oldschool and keep it 8v...

For Redblocks lots of people use the B230ft, which was the boosted motor for the 700/900's (don't think it came in the late 240's). The boosted 240 is a B23ft, I think.

My old wagon had a B230ft in it, they're nice and plentiful. Currently I have the B23E which was one of volvo's highest output N/A block, book says 140hp.

Most of the engines are good in their own ways for certain applications.

seakrait 02-07-2010 08:36 PM

or you could be a heretic like me and wish for a ford racing 5.0 V8 to be stuffed into a 242.

GabAlmighty 02-08-2010 11:07 AM

There's a guy on my forum in coquitlam who's doing that. And damn is he ever doing a clean install. The guy who owns my old black car wants to V8 it..

Volvo-brickster 02-08-2010 07:12 PM
