I went there on Saturday and it was awesome! A new batch of pineapple buns just came out as me and a buddy walked in! |
Yumm Yummm... that stuff tastes good! If you wanna get down to the most unhealthy yummy hong kong side-dishes though, I think the "french toast" stuffed with gobs of peanut butter then deep-fried, covered in honey and possibly condensed milk, then topped off with an equally large slab of butter takes the cake :) Yumm =D |
^ Wow, a name I haven't seen in a long time! |
Is there actually any pineapple in these buns? Bought a few from a bakery in richmond however I didn't see or taste any pineapple lol Posted via RS Mobile |

^ Is this a "must go to" place in HK? |
Anyone feel that the Lido Pineapple Bun seems like nothing at all? I mean, there really is no difference before eating and after eating it. There seems to be very little material inside.. Get what i mean? It tastes very good though, just not very satisfying. On another hand, you guys should try Happy Date Bakery across from RC, no. 3 side. It has, imo, the best Pineapple Bun in Vancity. Their food is also not bad, very inexpensive. While you guys are on that mall, make sure u try Torarenbo. It's a japanese restaurant with set bento lunches. Less than $10, and you get rice, loads of beef, sushi, tempura. goddamn! |

Another good one I recently tried is Kai Kee in Mong Kok. It is a huge restaurant, has a HUGE menu with a lot of pictures and English, and pretty good food from the 2 dishes we tried. We'll go back for sure. http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&geocode=&q=yau+ma+tei&sll=37.0625,-95.677068&sspn=47.972233,56.777344&ie=UTF8&hq=&hnear=Yau+Ma+Tei,+Hong+Kong&ll=22.316061,114.169369&spn=0,359.994491&z=18&layer=c&cbll=22.31614,114.169352&panoid=VSCrjIAwaD0igCnDZHrSOw&cbp=12,244.77,,0,13.39 (they have one in TST as well, I believe) |

^ Umm...$8 and change? Under $10 for sure. |

lido's satay beef noodles in soup is da bomb |
Went back to Kai Kee in MK for a mixed grill: http://carlrules.com/images/mixed-grill.jpg They get an A for quantity, but a C- for quality. It had steak, chicken steak, pork chop, a grilled prawn, sausage, bacon, some cabbage, and tomato. Also includes a bun, soup, and cold drink. All for about $9 CAD. The chicken steak and pork chop were fine. The sausage and bacon were what you'd expect. The prawn wasn't fresh at all. The beef was so disgusting I didn't eat it after one bite. But 3 of the 4 dishes we had there were very good, so I'll go back. I want to try their baked chicken steak :) |
^^^^ I love hong kong cafe food!! |
