Drivers who stop or park in an Olympic lane will face a fine of $100. Anyone who parks in a restricted area will be towed away and fined $100 plus the cost of the tow.

Daily traffic will have access to the street, but only VANOC accredited vehicles, emergency vehicles and TransLink buses will be able to travel in Olympic Lanes. However, other vehicles will be able to enter Olympic Lanes to turn, and for access to and from properties.

The Vancouver Police Department will enforce the types of vehicles that are permitted in Olympic Lanes and regular traffic violation fines will apply

North bound Olympic lane between Hastings and Cassiar, on ramp and Queue jumper lanes will be for transit, Olympic bus network and trucks with GVW 10,000kg only.

Olympic lane open from February 4 to March 2, 2010.
Do you guys read this as trucks above GVW 10,000kg?

How will commuters coming downtown from the North Shore be impacted? Will my carpool have access to the Olympic Lanes that bypass traffic to get onto the Lions Gate?

The key to a successful Olympic Games will be to ensure that we are all doing our part to reduce unnecessary vehicle trips and use alternate modes of transportation. People who normally use the Lions Gate and Ironworkers Memorial are asked to take transit, rideshare/carpool, or use alternative means. If a car is absolutely necessary, people are asked to travel outside of designated peak periods and fill up their vehicles with passengers. Find ride matches at ride-share.com. For more help building your Games travel plan, please visit travelsmart.ca.

During the Games, the current HOV/transit lane access to the Lions Gate Bridge will be available for Olympic vehicles and transit only.
didn't say anything about hasting and cassiar

FYI.. the diamond doesn't mean carpool. It means restricted lane.

Some of the restricted lanes are for carpools.. but only the ones with the diamond AND a picture of a car with a few people in it. Or a number. Some restricted lanes are for buses only... don't get caught in those either..

So damn confusing... For HOV signs, some have two people, some have three. Why can't they just make it 2 or more (like in the States)?!

I think the HOV lane by Willingdon by BCIT is 6+ LOL

its VAN POOL ..what a waste of lane

anyone know if motorcycles will be allowed to use these lanes? they're allowed to use all HOV lanes currently. would this be different?

racerman88 02-03-2010 07:31 PM

If there's no sign clearly stating that motorcycles can use it... then no, they can't. I highly suspect they will not be permitted.

Just like the bus lanes.. along Hastings, to Boundary... some people think it's a carpool lane and can drive in it with 2 people in the car... but they're WRONG!
