Car goes click when try to start.

I have a 1995 240sx. When I got the car it was fine but one day I go to turn it on and all the lightsw come on but it just did a single click. It worked the next day for a few days but since has come back. The car wont even start when its being jumpstarted the only way to start is to pushstart it. I have replaced the battery and starter and still get only a click. Have ne ideas? :(

Have you checked the Wires (starter, Battery). See if they are grounded or corroded etc etc.

I checked the wire from the starter and its connected. I Checked the battery wires and they r fine altho a tiny bit corroded but the lights come on and everythign im pretty sure im getting power from it. The negative battery terminal I can't get too tight, because the bolt is too long for any of my sockets to get to, onceI put the ratchet in. But it is tight enough to put the electiricty through, and even when I play around with the terminal, all I get is a click outta the starter.

What did you replace the starter with? Did you rebuild it yourself? Did you test it before you put it in? It still sounds like the starter is at fault here.

thank u skyxx!! u motivated me to look at the wires by the starter more and I noticed a corroded one. Replaced that and she starts!!!! THANK U VERY MUCH I THOUGHT MY CAR WAS FUCKED.

Yeah, if you know the car runs if you push start it, it can only be the starter, battery, wiring from the starter to the battery, ground or the ign. sw.

Glad to hear you sorted it out anyways.

Yeah, my buddy had the same problem. He bought a riced out 90 Accord and to start it, he had to hold down the mirror button and the clutch to start it. The day after he got it, it wouldn't start. We replaced the battery,, tried jumping it, etc.
Turns out, the wiring to the mirror button, which was connected to the alarm system, was corroded!

Problem solved :)
