So many examples makes me wish Jason0S2000's suggestion of gov't regulated childbirth was somehow in effect. Though it's a bit draconian but for F's sakes some babies just don't deserve the parents they get.

I think it's more the social environment that warps people's minds than what people are allowed to give birth. There is always high pressure in HK for people to have their children go to the best schools, get the highest grades, etc, etc. We don't have this kind of mentality here in Canada (or it's to a MUCH lower degree) and so we don't hear about these kinds of stories in Vancouver.

That is just fucked up...
