WTB: Amp

I need a decent amp to power 1x 12" Type-S!

Thanks!

::Sorry, price ranges upto $150!

what is your price range??? I have a 550 watt amp that would work perfect for $60.

catalin 02-06-2010 02:06 PM

I'll take $150 for this Rockford Fosgate amp.

I'm going to assume that your sub is a dual 4 ohm? If it is, then you'll want a class D amp that runs about 500 watts at 2 ohms to maximize it's efficiency. A two channel amp won't like it at all.

xeryusx 02-06-2010 04:42 PM

To be honest, I have no knowledge about ohms and ahms and stuff. My buddy gave me a Type-S subwoofer (apparently, it's second to a Type-R?) and I just need a good amp that can pump it :)

@installerz - So basically, I need a mono amp with at least 500W?

installerz 02-06-2010 09:11 PM

500 watts would be enough. What kind of box did you get with it? Does it have a port or is it sealed?

xeryusx 02-07-2010 06:10 PM

It's sealed. I hooked up a 2ch 100W JBL amp to it and it sounded shitty! I guess I gotta look for a mono block.

PM'd!

What's the model number of the subwoofer??

FN-2199 02-09-2010 03:29 PM

I'm looking for a 500W mono amp too. Need one to power a couple of 4 ohm impedance subs! (not sure if that's the type of amp I'm looking for :\)

damnbandit 02-09-2010 06:04 PM

MTX MXA-4001 would do well, $90

It's a Type-S 12" Alpine? I have no idea what the model number is. Don't wanna pull it out of my trunk

catalin 02-09-2010 08:17 PM

Well if the Alpines are dual 2 ohm then my Rockford would work well, it's pretty powerful and should have no problem at all...

see my link above.
