How to install manifold stud
 

ive got a broken double ended stud i need to replace, i was wondering how i would torque it

how much did you break? if u still ahve some threads left, try to put on a double nut, lock them, then use that to remove the stud.

if not, depending on how torqued down they are, u might be able to use a screw/stud extractor.

and if that doesnt work, tap it out gentley.

and if that doesnt work, then no choice, but to drill it out.

I think he wants to put a new one in? You don't really have to torque it just put it in till its snug.

If you want to torque it, double nut it.

Yes I'm trying to install it. I'm not sure if there is a torque requirment for this stud. This stud is used to bolt down the upper manifold

Put 2 nuts on the stud and tighten them against each other and use that to tighten the stud in. Tighten it until its snug and thats all you need.

in general this is how i would install it
1 clean the threads on the head after you have extracted the old/broken stud
2 use a bit of loctite only on the end that will thread into the head
3 if you have cleaned the threads well enough, you should be able to finger tight the new stud in most if not all the way in. use double nut method if needed to match protruding lengths with the other exhaust studs if required.
4 let it sit for a bit for the loctite to work
5 install header/exhaust manifold
6. dont use loctite on the nut. tighten the nut to spec. the stud shouldnt move as you tighten if you did it right.
