Rate my Rig. Advice/Opinions
 

So I finally got off my ass and kinda priced out a pc for myself after I realized no one was gonig to build it for me.

Gigabyte MA790X-UD4P
AMD Phenom II X2 555 Dual Core
HIS Radeon 5770 1GB
Kingston 2GB DD3 Ram x2
WD 500GB HD

this priced out to a little over 1g


After checking out my other thread I noticed this.

My question is is my build worth doing over the one in the link. My budget for this rig was suppose to be 1K so I don't mind going a little over but if my rig isn't worth the 200+ over the other one I might just pick that one up and save my ass 2 bills

I don't know much about computer no more and just kinda threw my list together

What color is it?

Is that 1K price tag taxes in or out?

I haven't heard much about the Phenoms but Intel has been doing pretty good as of late...maybe you should consider the i5.

I built myself a pretty decent i5 750 system / 4 gb DDR3 ram / ati 5850 vcard / 2 x 30GB SSD HD / case / heatsink / evga p55 ftw motherboard for about 1400 taxes in. Shave off the SSD's and heatsink, its almost the same price as the AMD system you priced out above which is not that great

You're paying WAY too much for that system ...

You could easily do a mid-range quad core (Phenom X4/Core i5) for that price ...

is this a balanced rig? I kinda took a look at a few builds and just copied them pretty much.

^ Good system but still overpriced, and you're missing a case, PSU. Might also want to get an aftermarket cooler.

Shop around....I found some things cheaper on Newegg versus NCIX and vise versa. One thing I notice was CPUs are cheaper @ Newegg.

I think you should look around at their specials, or try to price match. Unless you're getting them to build the system (which is a waste of $50 imo) you still have the option of buying parts from different companies.

Isn't that price about right? Since there's Win 7 and a monitor in there. You might be able to save a little bit by shopping around, but won't be THAT big of a difference.

I think that's a pretty standard build right now for the i5 750, I built a similar system recently, but went with HD4890 instead, quite a bit cheaper and able to handle most of the games out there (just no DX11).

Also, you might consider getting a CPU cooler, since the i5 is a pretty good overclocker. I got a Coolermaster Hyper 212+, a good bang for the buck cooler. Since I got an Asus mobo, I used their TurboV software to do the overclocking for me with just a few clicks.

I keep checking sites for cheaper prices but cant seem to bring down the cost anymore

also I have no clue how to choose a case and am not sure if the power supply will be enough for this rig. This was what i was thinking but thats based just on the fact I like how it looks
