Yeah well with brodeur who knows if we will even get to a shootout lol, either way if Canada loses people will be like "oh luongo would have won it for us" or "brodeur would have won that shootout for us"...winning is the only option Posted via RS Mobile |

What would the benefit be of having Luongo in net after Germany, if they even decide to start him? Brodeur did have his chance and aside from a couple boneheaded moves, he kept Canada in the game. I love how people are glossing over the big saves he came up with. Not to mention, that against the Swiss and now the American's Canada has faced a red hot goalie (Hiller, and Miller). Brodeur has been in net for the tough games and is battle tested, and if Luongo plays against Germany and wins, big deal. 2 wins against 2 subpar teams, and then he gets to face a tough opponent in Russia? He won't be prepared. You Luongo homers need to relax.
Where was Iginla? 4th line again. Better yet, where were Marleau and Thornton? Doing what they always do, disappearing in big games. Pronger and Niedermayer didn't look good either, or Doughty for that matter. These guys really have to step it up, and playing Germany is the chance to do it.

Yes he made some spectacular saves, but if you put Luongo or Fleury in net it MIGHT have been better. This is the Olympics, not the Playoffs, every game from now on is game 7, no time to practice stick handling.

I bet the gold medal game probably lost quite some value since everyone was wishing for CAN vs RUS in the finals.

not gonna win shit when USA can score 4 goals on 22 shots. Two of those were gifts.
We would have won this game if Marty played goal instead of leaving the net wide open. That just makes it too easy for the other team.

imo fuck Brodeur he was trying to play outside of himself tonight and stupid mistakes trying to be mr.wonderfull are going to cost us another game if he does what he did tonight

brodeur wasn't spectacular, but i think most of the blame is on our defence
they kept putting bodies in front of brodeur blocking his view and our defence wasn't physical enough to push them out
even the best goalies can't stop shots they don't see coming

I agree that our D could've been better but the bottom line is that we still would've won this game if brodeur didn't try to be a hero playing baseball or going for a sprawling poke check which left the net wide open.
Those two goals were were the reason we lost. Maybe the third one where his five-hole was huge too.

The benefit of having a great backup is so we can use him if we need him...but yeah let's ride out Brodeur because of everything he's done in the past, clearly he won it in 2002 and he's just as solid 8 years later right? I wanted Brodeur to start this tournament over Luongo, but he's proven that he's not the hot goalie right now so why sit around hoping he's going to have a fire lit under his ass.
If they put in Luongo next just to let Brodeur play against Russia, then i'd rather them just play Brodeur both games, he needs the practice.

I hope our top line starts performing and we find someone to compliment Crosby and Nash. Pronger just makes me nervous everytime he's on the ice.
Bobby Lou gets the start now. You can get burned in the Olympics by a hot goalie and you need one to win. Lets see what Roberto can do and if he can carry a hot streak.
I think everyone was WTF when Brodeur started to play baseball.

i expect to see luongo next game vs germany and our defencemen lay out players like ovechkin did to jagr, and then do it to ovechkin too next game.

I just watched the highlights again. If you pay attention to Brouder, he was fucking horrible in the game... no excuses... he made mistakes that I've never seen Luongo make before.
I'm not saying It was all Brouder's fault, but some of those goals were fucking pathetic... Canada overall could have played smarter.
If we lose and not play for gold becuase we decided to not play Luongo, I hope innocent American families die in the streets of Vancouver... BLOOD will be on our hands motherfucker!11 I'm fucking raging.

Well Sweden lost 2 in 2006 and won the gold. We're not out of this yet, before this lost was a wake up call and we can go in and win the next 4. We have the players to do it but the question is will our goaltending be up to the task.

If Canada makes it to the final, guess who may be the potential opponent?
USA.
If Canada wins, get ready to party. If Canada loses, get ready to riot.
But yeah... long way to go before we get there.
To win the gold now, Canada will possibly need to beat the following in order:
Qualification: Germany
Quarterfinal: Russia
Semifinal: Sweden or Slovakia
Final: United States or Finland or Czech Republic
Not going to be easy, that's for sure.

But then we rolled in the playoffs beating Finland 2-1 in the quarterfinals, then Belarus (LoL) 7-1 in the semifinals, and finally the US 5-2 in the finals.

But when brodeur is not in the zone, he's worst than the Lu in average mode.
If I were babcock, i'd have switched to lu after brodeur let in 2 goals in 5 shots.
