Cause he's playing with Wellwood and Bernier and not Hossa. LOL.

Looks like the Sedins carried their slump into the Olympics, but it didn't look like they got a lot of ice time though.

Slovaks are a good team, but Canada is even better.

But seriously, Slovaks IMO are going to be tough to play.

One weakness on the Slovaks is their goaltending and Canada can expose it by shooting the puck every chance they get. He's not a goalie that should give Canada any troubles.

I would really like to see Canada vs. USA for gold... lets get them back!

but we still need to beat Slovakia, which will be hard... considering they beat Russia also.

I noticed Halak came out and played the puck a lot during game against Sweden. One led to a goal too.

Dump and Chase!

The Swedish coaches have had a history of making stupid, pig headed decisions. Oh well, they're not a concern anymore.

I dunno about everyone else but I've been extremely impressed with the quality of hockey at these games. The smaller countries that used to be 'also rans' have stepped up in a BIG way. Switzerland gave both Canada and the US serious runs for their money. Slovakia has beaten both Russia and Sweden, 2 favourites to win gold. Belarus has been playing strong as well, and even though Canada walked on both Germany and Norway, both teams kept playing hard and had some chances / goals. Germany, a team ranked 15th in the world scoring 2 goals against Canada - they should feel pretty good about themselves to be honest. They had a good showing.

Compare with womens hockey where it's a 2 horse race no matter how many countries field teams. Games that end 18-0 like Canada vs Slovakia hardly qualify as games at all. The future of international mens hockey looks very bright, and very competetive. Moreso than it ever has been.

I wouldn't say great, he had a great start but he hasn't been that great in the last month or two. I think he had a decent streak going around the time the Canucks played the Habs but imo he isn't a goalie that should Canada any major problems.

More insight on Halak;

Quote:
Bad or suspect goals indicated in bold.

1. Long shot, big rebound cashed in by Clarke MacArthur as he beats Halak high stick side. 15 ft.
2. Backhand, Halak struggles with rebound, Jason Pominville beats Halak low stick side. 10 ft.
3. Pominville out of the corner, cross crease for Roy who taps it in beating Halak low stick side. 13 ft.
4. Vanek shot, Halak struggles with the rebound as Tim Kennedy beats him high glove side. 9 ft.
5. Slapshot from the blueline seems to beat a screened Halak low stick side. 56 ft.
6. 2 on 1. Thomas Vanek feeds Mike Grier for a cross crease tap-in that beats Halak low glove side. 8 ft.
7. Michalek shot from the slot picked up by Mike Fisher as he lifts it over Halak high stick side. 6 ft.
8. Andrej Sekera slap shot from the point beats Halak low stick side. 58 ft.
9. 2 on 1, shorthanded. Tim Connolly sends Patrick Kaleta in alone as he beats Halak 5-hole. 6 ft.
10. Scramble in front as Tim Kennedy finds the puck and beats Halak low stick side. 11 ft.
11. 5 on 3 PP. Drew Stafford cross crease for MacArthur for a tap-in beating Halak low glove side. 5 ft.
12. Ron Hainsey shot from a bad angle deflects in off Ilya Kovalchuk beating Halak low glove side. 3 ft.

20. Fisher out of the corner, stopped, rebound batted in by Chris Neil, beating Halak over his head. 4 ft.
21. Keith Ballard end to end gets in alone on Halak and beats him high stick side. Odorous. 8 ft.
