911Fanatic vs 08 Lexus This client just imported this IS300F from the US a few weeks ago and contacted me about getting it waxed t protect it until the summer. As soon as the car was dropped off, some issues became very apparent. The barrels were brown. Solid brown. Like they had never been cleaned. It was overcast and you could see the marring in the paint without a light source. Good grief. Started by cleaning all jambs, around emblems etc with AG Powermax3. And started to wash with Optimum Carwash. Water was beading pretty good so I soaked the whole car down in Powermax mixed 4:1. http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/l...s/DSC_0001.jpg After rinsing and rewashing, it seemed to have worked. http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/l...s/DSC_0002.jpg No more beading whatsoever. Perfect. http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/l...s/DSC_0003.jpg As discussed, the barrels were filthy. Used Gloss it Wheel Gel on the rears and let it soak for about 3 minutes. The rears came out mint. The fronts were another story. After Gloss it barely put a dent in them, I grabbed my strongest wheel cleaner mixed 2:1 ( normally mixed 8:1) and it still didn't remove 100%. This car is a 2008! I decided to leave the rest until summer when I will pull the wheels. http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/l...s/DSC_0004.jpg Got brake dust? http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/l...s/DSC_0007.jpg Marring on hood http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/l...s/DSC_0013.jpg http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/l...s/DSC_0014.jpg http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/l...s/DSC_0015.jpg Rear bumper damage http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/l...s/DSC_0016.jpg Trunklid http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/l...s/DSC_0017.jpg Even more marring http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/l...s/DSC_0018.jpg http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/l...s/DSC_0019.jpg http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/l...s/DSC_0020.jpg Nasty touchup http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/l...s/DSC_0021.jpg http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/l...s/DSC_0022.jpg http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/l...s/DSC_0023.jpg http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/l...s/DSC_0024.jpg Hood was repainted as evidenced by the sanding lines present. http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/l...s/DSC_0025.jpg This residue was present all around the front window. http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/l...s/DSC_0027.jpg This was the highest PTG reading ..... http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/l...s/DSC_0028.jpg and the lowest. http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/l...s/DSC_0029.jpg We needed to hide the marring somehow so it came down to the current champion, BH Auto Balm vs the newcomer, Blackfire Gloss Enhancing Polish. http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/l...s/DSC_0033.jpg 50/50 of GEP on front door. http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/l...s/DSC_0030.jpg http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/l...s/DSC_0032.jpg 50/50 of AB on rear door. http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/l...s/DSC_0034.jpg http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/l...s/DSC_0035.jpg Even more residue. This time on the passenger side pillar. http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/l...s/DSC_0038.jpg Got out some Scholl SO3+ and LC hand scrubber. http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/l...s/DSC_0039.jpg Removed almost all of it. Rest of it will need some machine action to remove. http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/l...s/DSC_0040.jpg Used one of my fav tire dressings today - White Pearl. Covers really nice and leaves a finish very similar to Swisswax Pneu. http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/l...s/DSC_0044.jpg Applying BH Auto Balm with a PC. Used a Gloss it finishing pad on speed 3. If this was normal carwash damage this method would have been fine and its much easier than applying by hand. Unfortunately, the paint was hammered and benefitted from applying in a linear motion which did a way better job filling in the damage. http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/l...s/DSC_0047.jpg 50/50 on the hood. http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/l...s/DSC_0048.jpg and another http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/l...s/DSC_0049.jpg reflection shots http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/l...s/DSC_0050.jpg http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/l...s/DSC_0051.jpg Stubborn brake dust. :( http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/l...s/DSC_0055.jpg Worn leather :( http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/l...s/DSC_0056.jpg All this damage on an 08 with under 37,000kms http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/l...s/DSC_0058.jpg To put this in perspective, the car looks great from far.... http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/l...s/DSC_0059.jpg but in reality is far from great. http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/l...s/DSC_0060.jpg Afters http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/l...s/DSC_0061.jpg http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/l...s/DSC_0062.jpg http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/l...s/DSC_0063.jpg http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/l...s/DSC_0064.jpg http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/l...s/DSC_0065.jpg http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/l...s/DSC_0066.jpg http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/l...s/DSC_0067.jpg http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/l...s/DSC_0068.jpg http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/l...s/DSC_0069.jpg At the end of the day, the GEP did a great job. The ability to mask minor damage was very similar to the AB but I chose to use the AB as it left a deeper finish which is what I wanted for the black paint. I did use the GEP on the charcoal Vette I posted and it worked fantastic on it. :) |
find the people who did this and punch them. Nice save. |
