healthier living

Okay I'm done mopping around so its time to get active.

I'm 5'10- around 120-125lbs, I don't eat breakfast, and after lunch I'll snack a lot. What I'm looking for is, basic exercises I can start off with to get into shape, what types of foods I should start eating, etc.

I know I should start eating breakfast that way my body's metabalisim will start as soon as possible, but what should I be eating? Is cereal+milk good? or should I start with something...larger. I'm starting to cut down on the instant food and such so that's a good start I guess.

Excersies, situps, push ups those are all good starts right? I guess I'll go buy some small weights soon.

Going to slow down on the smoking as well.

I know this seems really confussing and jumbled but I hope you guys know what I mean.
ps. Please no comments about me being anorexic or w.e shit, I'm serious about changing things atm and I don't want to deal with immature shit comments. Thank you for anyone that can be of help

this isnt the best advice but eat more fruits and veggies.
as for the gym. just goto any gym and look at each machine. it will show you how to use it. remember, dont go for heavy weights. do light weights and 10 reps.

once you start getting into it. it will be easy to search for work outs on the internet
drink some protein too with milk.

your BMI is pretty low
quit smoking and start eating regular meals and you'll see a big difference

why would you tell him to do light weights and higher reps, he should be doing the opposite and trying to bulk up to build muscle, gaining mass to around 170 which is what he should be walking around at.

definitely change your diet, starting with a change in mindset is a good start

DavidNguyen 02-15-2010 12:32 AM

i told him that because i was once where he is.
its how i started and move up from there. if he starts at heavy weights. he'll probably lose motivation. start light and work your way to the heavy stuff.

Go google Rippetoe's Starting Strength

theres nothing good about cereal and milk in the morning. better than nothing, but still a poor choice.

quit smoking.

At your weight I would just start eating everything and get to the gym..

Neoxphuse 02-18-2010 06:44 AM

At 5-10, your weight should be around 160 I think.

I'm 5-7 and about 150 +/- 5 lbs.

First thing is you need to put on some pounds, as everyone here as mention. I recommend you hit the gym and do some heavy weight lifting, and drinking protein shakes. This will get you bulk muscle. Still eat healthy. A lot of people say just eat a lot of fast food, but seriously, those suck. Stick with eating healthy.

Once you do that, focus on toning yourself down.

Really? How is that bad for u? Please elaborate. I am currently have cornflakes/milk for breakfast and if that's bad then i might need to find somethign else.

SkinnyPupp 02-18-2010 05:52 PM

Because it's pure sugar. You just give yourself a big insulin spike, and after that comes the crash, and the "mid day slowdown" that so many people experience but don't realize they are doing it to themselves each day.

unit 02-18-2010 06:32 PM

corn flakes have amongst the highest GI carbs of all cereals

Make yourself a shake. That's a pretty good breakfast.

Onassis 02-19-2010 06:25 AM

Try oatmeal.

So I've began eating breakfast agian, just a simple egg sandwhich in the morning, or bowl of milk and cereal. I'm not sure if its because I'm not used to eating breakfast, but by 10am I'd have went to the washroom at least twice. I've also stopped eating past 10pm so wtf? Personally I don't think I should go running for the gym just yet, been doing some basic situps/pushup type things at home first. Was thinking of buying a small set of weights as well.
