if you are on a budget, look into HJC, KBC or scorpion. Good bang for the buck and dot and snell rated

bump :D

Other than Drivers Edge and Lordco, does anyone else have recommended stores that will stock lower end helmets? I'm looking at sub-$200 since I'm just starting out..

I'm also wondering if it's worth waiting for SA2010 to be released in October.. or am I being too cheap?

Overseas Auto carries helmets within your price range. I believe they are still an RS Sponsor. I know slowguy bought a helmet from them last season.

Edit: The only "other" place that I can think of is Mopac but they're all the way in Langley and even then, I don't know what kind of a selection they have.

You can also try PDM Racing in Burnaby ;)

Re: SA 2010 vs SA 2005 - the rulesets that I'm familiar with allow the most recent Snell Foundation rating and at least one older rating, so if you buy a SA05 helmet you should be good to go for a while yet. These other factors might help you with cheapness ;)

- SA05 helmets may be discounted due to newer SA2010 helmets coming out - more likely for lower-end helmets. I wouldn't count on heavy discounts for something like an Arai.
- If you get seriously into motorsports, you will likely want to replace your "first" helmet before its safety certification expires due to preference or wear. Who wants to wear the same smelly helmet for 10 years?
