i wonder what's the wholesale price on a veyron.

$900K?

StylinRed 02-27-2010 01:19 AM

maybe thats the one that took the dive into the lake; with a new paint job

still crazy though

b-dub 02-27-2010 01:56 AM

This doesn't mean shit,

"...for an unabashedly American Corvette ZR1 and some cash.

For all we know it could have been ZR1 + 1mil on top + tax savings

If it was a 1:1 trade then THAT'S something!

Just saying...

More than you can afford pal, Bugatti

yvrnycracer 02-27-2010 02:02 AM

considering the maintenance costs on a linked article... i wonder who is the veyron tech in town considering the new franchise... and what does he get paid when he works on the one that is here... :)

VK79 02-27-2010 02:23 AM

Or maybe he just felt that it was too much car for him.

PiuYi 02-27-2010 03:27 AM

cheap 1.6million dollar marketing ploy

Wykydtron 02-27-2010 06:30 AM

Plus they didn't take it on trade till they had a buyer lined up....so it's pretty much coming in, then leaving right away, and the dealership will walk away with some extra money for probably very little work.

Mugen EvOlutioN 02-27-2010 09:22 AM

why would anyone wonna do tat

Timpo 02-27-2010 12:01 PM

That is not the point.

ZR-1 is still a Corvette, so many of them are out there, and it's cheap compare to Bugatti.

Who would want to drive a GT-R if you can afford an Enzo or McLaren F1? Same idea.

Kim Jong Un 02-27-2010 12:17 PM

rich people.... who cares

GabAlmighty 02-27-2010 04:21 PM

He wants a raw car.

CanadaGoose 02-27-2010 04:45 PM

I can see where he's coming from

I'd rather drive a ZR-1 and beat the flying fuck out of it, then baby a veyron and pay like 30 g's for a brake job

Onassis 02-27-2010 05:19 PM

The owner actually posted on NASIOC off topic, he's an 80 year old man that doesn't want to pay the maintenance costs anymore. He's also a religious fanatic and rich from the oil field, I think he mentioned the cost of owning one is over 150k+ /year. The craziest thing he said was how he has to get his tyres changed, they send his rims over to get x-rayed so that they can tell if it is still structurally sound every few thousand clicks, and then then have to be changed every 4th tyre service.

I really admire this guy, he's 80 and still rocking out on Ducatis too.

Because to some people, the status of the car doesn’t matter, its the driving enjoyment that matters. I can only assume he wasn’t enjoying the car.

AzNightmare 03-01-2010 09:46 PM

And the ZR-1 looks better anyway.... although with a Veyron, I would have traded it for a Ferrari or Lambo instead.

optiblue 03-02-2010 06:41 PM

I can understand that... the age of electronic gadgets saving your ass on the road takes away a lot of fun nowadays. I want an AP1

Just to give you an idea, there were over 11,000 Ferrari 360s produced. There were originally slated to be 2000 ZR-1s built and to date only 1400 or so have been produced. Not exactly a common car.

Yah for the price of the Bugatti you could get a trainer jet fighter. It would cost less money to maintain the jet and would go a hell of a lot faster..

you don't quite get my point

Honda Mugen Civic RR, the $47,700 limited edition Civic and only 300 units were produced.

http://cvimg01.carview.co.jp/news/ca...482974_1_l.jpg

Now, compare that to Lamborghini Murcielago, over 4,000 of them were produced as of today, does that make the Mugen Civic RR 13.3 times more exclusive than a Murcielago? No, because it is still a Civic.

Same as ZR-1, a rare edition Corvette, but it's essentially a modded C6 Vette that we see everyday, just like Civic RR.

-Veyron MSRP is $1.1M Euros
-Veyron will appreciate in value as its extremely rare.
-Each set of tires is 20K USD; changing the tires requires shipping to europe, costs $70K USD.

are you serious?

if you drive Veyron at WOT, the gas will only last 12 minutes and tires will only last 15 minutes...no joke.
