Telus internet connection unstable My Telus highspeed internet connection occasionally stalls or stops working and comes back on. I dont know if its because I live in a old house or bad modem or whatever. But I just dont feel like calling Telus customer service because I have dealt with them my whole life (many previous internet connection problems). I have just lost confidence in Telus's internet providers. I want to see if anyone knows a lot about internet providers and if Telus is a keeper or not. And what do all of you use as your internet provider? |
telus is shit just reboot your modem...if that doesn't work call in and bitch and threaten you'll be a shaw customer next month and they should give you a better internet for the same price. |
I am a tech for Telus and if you can provide me with the following I can answer your question what kind of modem do you have? what service agreement do you have? are you using 2 wire filters for all the phone lines? is there a adsl pot filter that feds the line the modem is plugged into? I use Telus cause its cheap as fuck for me and I have never had a problem cause I installed everything myself haha plus my rates are pretty damn good I get 18+mb with my tvs off and 13+ with my tvs on. |
Just make sure your not using that shitty siemens modem. The 2wire one is better |

i love telus. i got 12.5mbit connection and like unlimited usage. i use 200+ gbyte of bandwidth per month |

If you go with a better internet plan you would have to upgrade as you would be pushing the modems threshold for what it supports. if the OP ever decides to answer me I can prob go and drop off a modem for you if it turns out to be that issue |
^ upgrade to what? the lady on the phone told me siemens is suitable for my 12.5mb connection and said the speedtouch is more for business use..i dont think she was a tech so i took what she said with a grain of salt. |
I've always had fewer problems with Shaw |
rarely had problems with telus. Had tooonns of problems with shaw. My telus connection is stable as shit and always consistent never jumping around |
Telus has a very stable connection, if you're having problems its most likely on your end, check your phone filters and fax machines need filters too. I had telus for 2 years and never reset my 2wire modem once, that's just incredible to me. I'm with Shaw now, after telus fucked up my connection when they tried to install telustv at my house, my internet phone and tv were out for 2 fucking weeks, never trusted telus again. Shaw has random ass speeds, usually late night gets the best speeds as everyone on my block is effecting my speed during the day . |

does the internet go faster if there is a 2wire filter on all phone lines, not including the adsl one? i always wondered why they gave so much of those. |
Telus isnt a keeper, get shaw Posted via RS Mobile |

yea we only give out the speed touch for customer on the lower end rate plans or business clients only. Quote:

Shaw is only good when there are few to no other users cause you get better speeds but during high usage your speed will drop where as Telus is a constant rate that goes to you and you alone. Really depends on what you use your internet for. |
I don't even have a phone line anymore and trlus still random hangs me on ps3 or lags for like 10-20 seconds Posted via RS Mobile |
