Fusion Amplifiers... Hey all, I have a chance to get a FUSION FP-1404 POWERPLANT for cheap. I havnt been able to find much info on it. Its about 18inches long and mint shape. Looks to have a ton of settings on it. What are these things worth, any would it be any good to power my Hertz Mids?? I plan on using 2 channels only |
Australian brand more known in SPL circles. Haven't heard any horror stories about the brand. It puts out 350 watts RMS a channel bridged. I wouldn't have any proplems using it if the price was right but it might be too much power for your mids bridged. * 2-Ohm Stable Operation * Gold Plated RCA Inputs/Outputs * FUTRANZ Efficient Heat Sink Design Technology * F.I.S.T Fusion Intercooled Semi-Conductor Technology * FRAT Fusion Regulated Amplifier Technology * Variable Subsonic Filter 20 Hz - 55 Hz * Variable Bass Boost: 0 - +18 dB @ 45 Hz * Variable HP and LP Electronic Crossover @ 18dB/Oct * 4-AWG Power/Ground Connections * Damping Factor > 200 * Military Spec Componentry * CHANNELS: - 4 * FREQUENCY RESPONSE: - 5 - 38,000 Hz * POWER: - 4 x 165W RMS @ 2 Ohms - 4 x 100W RMS @ 4 Ohms - 2 x 350W RMS Bridged @ 4 Ohms * STABLE TO: - 2-Ohm Stereo - 4-Ohm Mono * S/N RATIO: - > 90 dB * THD: - 0.05% * DIMENSIONS: - 220 mm x 460 mm x 57.5 mm |
We carry Fusion also. If you're getting it cheap then by all means go for it. It's definitely not bad stuff. Sounds better than alot of mainstream stuff on the market. Like manic said, might be a little overkill to run it bridged. 100RMS is already insane for most applications. |
Ah yeah, I am going to run my front Hertz Components off it not bridged. I have a jl for the rear mids. I took it apart today because it has not been turning on 90% of the time. Where the power input goes into the board it is all burnt and chared. I put oversized washers onto the screws and put it all back together and it seems to work just fine. It is going to be replacing my JBL mid amp. |
They are a New Zealand brand bTW...made in the orient of course just like all amplifiers. I had a Jona Lomu mono block which was very expensive and very powerful. Unfortunately it didn't survive after it kind of caught on fire. Ever since then I haven't had much to say about them. |
