Anyone here own a 35i engine that had to replace their fuel pump?
Had to replace mine twice so far
This time I got the new "engineered" part that is posed to have no issues but probably bs.
Next car is going to be NA engine, ugh

What gas do you guys use?I use either chevron 94 or shell 91, I believe both do not contain ethanol. I am at 13k km and still on the first HPFP and haven't had 1 long crank since day 1.

i heard it has to do with the gas you put in.
as more people in the States are having the fuel pump issue than in Canada. www.e90post.com

In the states people are able to lemon law their cars and get their money back, too bad the same option is not available to you in Canada.

My 08 was dead at 22,000 km. From what I read from e90post, most failure cases happen on 07.

check if you got the new HPFP part, the serial number is 13517594943
My SA told me not to use 10% ethanol cause the 35i engine is sensitive.

these are a known issue with this car. good thing there is warrenty. On my sisters A4 1.8TQ i replaced the coil packs 8 times on a 4 cylinder car! finally audi made it a recall. Be thankful its something not that big. I've been through 2 transmissions on my Ford Explorer (1 under warrenty, and one after warrenty expired).

hmm, do u drive the car til the tank is empty or the light is on?
ive heard of problems where the pump overheats because it actually uses the gas in the gas tank as a "heatsink" to dissipate heat.

either way, bring it to ur dealership. should be covered under warranty.

 | they did a voluntary recall.
my car broke down yesterday, as i was leaving for BMW(my car was shaking on cold starts lol) im guessing it was the fuel pumps not giving enough gas or w/e but fml so i got it towed.

there are 3 voluntary service campaigns at the moment in regards to the High pressure fuel pump, injectors and programming. If your N54 turbo engines haven't had these done and still under warranty contact your dealership of choice to have these done free of charge. Some VIN #'s also have the low pressure sensor campaign as well.
also for the E70 X5's, there is a running campaign on low pressure fuel pump replacements. Check with dealership if unsure. afaik , manufacturer warranty applies to all vins whether if they originated from Canada or the USA. The only thing that doesn't go across borders are the scheduled maintenances or CBS (condition based services) covered by BMW Canada or BMW USA. If unsure, always have the warranty department check on your vin for validity.

 | the same can be said about just about any fuel pump in any brand car; Most are designed to be cooled down by the fuel in the tank itself. That's why most owner's manuals say to fill your car up when the fuel reaches quarter tank.
I don't own a 335i but have had similar issues with Chevrolet's in the past - Corvette, Camaro and Malibu
