Backup hard drive not showing up :( I've had this drive for a couple of years now and I've never had issues with it before. I have about a good 400gb of stuff loaded on there (music, pictures, work etc) and it's not showing up anymore. I checked disk management and it only shows my C: disc and E: disc with no mention of D: I didn't hear any sort of weird noises (clicking) or have any issue loading files off that drive prior to this. Is there anyway of fixing this or am I SOL? :( |
1. Did you try using a different SATA/IDE cable and/or slot? 2. Did you try sticking it into an enclosure or another computer? You didn't mention any diagnostic attempts in the post, so I'd advise you to try those. |
Took out my secondary backup drive and put this drive in its place and it still didn't show up in bios. Is there anything else I can do to start it up so I can copy the important files over? |
If it's not recognized in BIOS, you're pretty much screwed. You could try the freezer trick, but that's just about the last resort. |
You can try recovering it by replacing the controller board of the hard drive as well. It's a tad expensive seeing as you'll need a working drive that is identical in the model. |
