I've been looking for reviews on the net, but haven't really found anything.

Are they decent sound quality? I'm looking at the Massive TX6 6.5" coaxial components.

They suck. The sound is adequate, the warranty bites and they do break down. Buy something locally with a better name.

That would depend on the car that you have. Depth is sometimes an issue. In some cases, it's not a real 6.5". In others the mounting area is hampered by the trim or factory grille.
Then, there's the tweeter... is it going into a factory location? If so, how much room is there for it, or can it be exposed?
Are you using an amp, or will you be in the future?

I have a 1993 Ford Escort wagon
I have heard of mounting depth issues, I'm on the Escort forums trying to figure out how deep I can mount (sounds very sexual haha)
By tweeter do you mean a separate one or one built into the 6.5? There's no separate tweeter from the factory and I don't think I want one either at this point.
I'm not using an amp right now and likely won't in the future. (trying to keep it reasonably simple). Instead I've been checking the RMS ratings on head units and most likely going with Clarion, which seems to have a higher RMS than Kenwoods and Pioneers. (20-22W/ch vs. 14-15W/ch).

Hmmm...just found a Pioneer deck I really like for a decent price...only 14W/ch RMS, though...is that a huge difference?

I might just break down and throw an amp at the speakers

If you are going coaxial (speaker/tweeter all built into one) then deck power is usually enough. That said, it sure wouldn't hurt to add an amplifier - it'll sound better at all volumes too! You can always add an amp later on.

I have a JVC deck with 25 watts per channel MAX and it keeps up with my 2400 watt subwoofer system. I wouldn't worry about what they say is coming out. listen to some different cars and make your own judgment.

Clarion is on the same quality level as the Massive in my professional opinion.

I'm picking up a Pioneer deck (exactly what I wanted) that's only 14W/ch RMS, but whatever...getting a great deal on it and 4 Infinity 6.5s

From what I've read Infinity makes decent components...

If your not using an amp use a coax or something with no more then a 6db/oct crossover slope.
The higher the slope of the crossover the less power gets to your speakers. A good rule of thumb to follow is for every 6db/oct slope you lose half the power. So a deck with 14 watts of power and a crossover with a 6db/oct slope will only allow for about 7 watts to the speaker.
That is the main reason why comps sound shitty on deck power.

sorry but im gonna have to agree with phil@rise, about caps/cross overs robbing power. lets say you put a cap in series with a 4 ohm speaker or tweeter. you pretty much have created a first order 6db/octave high pass filter. since its in series u would add 4ohms+4ohms = 8ohms and we all know the higher the ohm rating the less power output u get.

i will disagree with phil about components sounding shitty on deck power as i have installed a bunch of polk db component and run them off deck power and sound great, but we all know everyone needs more power

then again who am i???

oh btw GTX i would recommend u go listen to those infinity speakers before you buy, because what i have noticed with infinity or any brand with a hard/metal dome tweeter is that there really harsh sounding, tinny, and sharp.
