income tax question - schedule 3
 
im doing my income taxes right now and i bought some stocks, im trying to figure out how to fill out schedule 3 properly

that is the form, im filling out question 3 but what do i put for the column number, do i just list it from 1-however based on the number of companies i bought from, i dont wanna screw up and get an audit

You say that you bought some stocks but you didn't say if you've sold those same stocks. Accordingly, if you haven't sold those stocks then you need not complete Schedule 3.

On the assumption that you've sold these stocks then your adjusted cost base (ACB) is equal to the following formula:

Weighted average of the cost of the stocks purchased
plus, your cost of acquisition (direct fees to buy the stocks)
less, return of capital distributions received
equals, the adjusted cost base of the shares in question.
