eBook Reader w/ PDA Applications?

Which of the ebook readers (electrophoretic/e-ink and electrowetting only) has handy applications like calendar and stuff? Touch screen is a must, and Wi-Fi would be preferable. I've even seen one with keyboard.

I guess if the OS is developers and programmer friendly, it's only a matter of time before there are more applications. I've came across iLiad calendar so I guess it would work on DR1000 as well.

What on earth do you need Wi-Fi for on a e-ink device?

Some have browser so I can still read up on html stuff~

Man the Electrowetting stuff is pretty nice, may even be a mainstream display someday.

Anyhow I'm hoping to have Calendar for scheduling and Email client as well.

looks like you want an iPad. other than that - I think the new Amazon kindles have a full keyboard and WiFi. You can't surf the web with it though, the Wifi is only for downloading papers and synching e-boots

Yeah iPAD is a slim tablet, not a ebook reader. Altho Liquovista with electrowetting looks promising; probably very pricey when it comes out.

I've been researching:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Compari...e-book_readers
http://wiki.mobileread.com/wiki/E-book_devices

While I've found one that actually uses Outlook and other MS Office, it's a small fortune...

I'd get one without a touchscreen. The extra layer on top of the e-ink takes away some of the readability. My GF just got a Kindle, and I must say, I am impressed. E-ink is pretty sweet. I'm going to get a reader for myself, eventually. I'm just waiting for the next gen, which will have more integrated features, and other improvements. The iPad is nice, but it ain't no eReader. iPad owners are going to have a fun time with eye-strain once they start trying to read a book on it.

My Palm Pre can do all that stuff ... Much smaller screen, though.

Make sense! The reason I want touch screen is for using scheduling and all, but I guess a few arrow keys would do the trick as well. I thought only the Hannah or something has a keyboard, but Kindle 2 now has one as well. My main concern now is still the features as you've mentioned, and OS that supports more functionality. The one I've show and quite a few more on the market ALREADY has all that and more, more than double the eReaders now though. Soon after the 2nd gen the electrowetting will probably take over; colour e-ink.

So right now I dunno. A friend of mine is going to Hong Kong soon, so I'm trying to get her to get me one there; usually cheaper, depending on where it's manufactured.

I'm gonna get an e-ink monitor FOR SURE once they make it. Dual LCD/LED, plus a colour e-ink monitor for reading.

Bump.

Indigo is taking Pre-orders for Kobo for $150 CDN (vs $259 USD Kindle 2). The big advantages over the Kindle is the price, and SD slot. No Wifi, though.

I think I'm going to get one. I don't mind transferring books from my PC.
