Overnight Parking Question Hey everyone, I live on Kingsway in Vancouver. There is this parking regulation where it says no stopping from 7:00am - 9:30am. Which means i can't park overnight in front my house because it'll be inconvenient moving it in the morning. I also don't have garage parking because my mother keeps her Honda Odessey in there. So I end up having to park my car on the block behind my house. I don't really mind that it's a 1 block walk, the problem is that the residence on that block don't want me parking there over night. There are ton's on parking spots at night, and even if there aren't very many, i usually park in the places that are empty. It's kind of annoying already having to walk to my car in the morning when its cold and raining, but also having to peel of pieces of paper(notes) my wind shield. Telling me to not park there... So my question is... Is it legal for me to park on the block behind my house? I look at this site http://vancouver.ca/engsvcs/parking/admin/ and found this By-law No. 2849, Section 17.6(f) prohibits non-resident parking in front of any property for more than 3 hours between 8:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. which i don't think is very useful to me.. Thanks, Peter |
Well, it does tell you that it is OK to park between 6:00 pm and 8:00 am, and if you take your 3 hours, between 6:00 pm and 11:00 am.... |
In other words, tell the neighbors to get bent - as long as you move by 11am, you're within the law. |
Oh, I understand it more clearly now. I'll probably park the car on another block now because i don't want anymore problems with people from that block. At least I have something to tell the people next time. Thanks for the help and advice. |
