Amp not powering up My car has an aftermarket amp wired in with an aftermarket sub to the factory head unit. The other day the sub stopped working, I thought it was the wires had come out of the sub since the box isnt secured and moves around in the trunk sometimes. I fixed that and still nothing. I then noticed that the amp wasnt powering up. I checked all 3 fuses on the amp, and the inline fuse to the battery, all of them are good. Is there a seperate fuse that would affect this through the Mach 460 setup? The headunit still works fine. Ive dicked around with the wiring at the amp (power, ground, remote) and nothing is lose, and the ground looks fine and secure. Anything else I can check before I have to remove the amp and have it looked at? |
Run a volt meter to the power wire and the remote wire to see which one is not working. Ground the volt meter to the chasis. If both are good, check the ground wire on the amp. If that too is good, then something is wrong with the amp. If one of the power/remote wires doesn't show power, you now know where to investigate. Out of curiosity, what were you using as the remote power source for the amp? I'm not too familar with the Mach 460 system, but does the deck have a remote wire for the stock amp? If there is, check to see if there is a factory fuse for it. |
Effed if I know what its hooked up to. Came with the car. Its worked fine up until last week or so. It looks like an older concept amp, big fucker too. Im gonna have to head over to my dads since I dont have a voltmeter at my place, damn it. |
