Question about IPhone 3GS
 

Hey guys,

I think it is about time i get myself an iphone! Does anyone know how the whole iphone plan works for FIDO? I'm already on a 3 year contract with fido, which has 1 year left on it. if i were to purchase an iphone do i have to add a data plan on to it? or can i just use my current plan. also if i purchase an iphone from fido can i jailbreak it and unlock it myself?

yes u can jb and unlock urself. but unless you want to pay full price for the phone from them, i believe you have to renew a 3 year contract + add data to your plan, but you can only do that with 6 months left on your contract. You have to wait another 6 months to do this. I'd say dont bother and wait till wind comes out and say fuk you to fido. lol

i think new iphone might out soon, perhaps in the summer maybe ?? you should consider it

You have to add data, I asked about just signing up with a voice plan and they said no.

I upgraded my plan with a year left on contract and just had to add a data plan and pay for a cheaper iPhone 3GS.
My girlfriend upgraded with a year and a half left in her contract as well.

really? i've asked on 2 seperate occasions if i can extend my contract and get an iphone and was told i had 2 options, buy the iphone at full price or wait till i have 6 months left on contract to renew it. fuk i hate fido. inconsistant cock sucking customer rep that dont give a shit about the customer.

I was told to literally fuck off once by a customer service rep because i called in and asked NICELY to see if they can throw in caller ID for free for me as my friend was getting it for free and on the same plan as me. Pricks.

no, fido. The guy CS rep that told me to fuk off knew i had 8 months left on my contract and currently no other providers is providing a better deal (at least non that i had found at the time of my call) aside from my friend getting free caller ID and i wasnt.

rogers gives you the option to buy out the data plan for $100 if you get the iphone but do not want to be on a data plan.

No way...so the 16gb 3GS is $199 on a 3yr term. You sign a contract for 3years, pay $199 and pay an additional $100 on top of that, then you can choose whatever plan(without data)?
