That coat isn't going to do jack at brake temperatures.

This is what I was thinking... Even if it got onto the brake pads I don't think it will stay? The heat will likely melt it off... Kinda like when you finish a car wash you should pump your breaks a few times just in case?

On stock OEM wheels i'm sure this should be fine right?
ie. aluminum bimmer wheels?

just saw this video and it looks like I'm getting something from armorall for the first time :D

OMFGWTFBBQ!!!!!!!!! im getting this shit for sure!!!!!!!!.... however i wouldn't do that with the rim ON the car ;) might not be a good idea for getting it on ur brakes since u dont' know whats in that shit

68style 03-18-2010 07:08 AM

According to the can I bought yesterday it has no warning labels about spraying on your brakes... you would assume in the highly litigious USA that if there was *ANY* risk whatsoever of it being dangerous for your car they would have something on there.

The only warning of any kind is to spray it in a well ventilated area and it suggests applying in temperatures above 65F

EDIT:

Damn, missed that link.

Mugen EvOlutioN 03-18-2010 09:43 AM

did u not watch the video? the guy puts a shit load of break dust/powder shit on the rims, and it repels right off

unit 03-18-2010 09:49 AM

be careful when you use this stuff.
its probably insanely hazardous to your health.

they'll probably find this stuff in the cells of monkeys in the middle of the amazon rainforest in a few years

maxxxboost 03-18-2010 11:21 AM

I just bought a can at Canadian Tire. They sell it for $12.99 so pretty much after tax, you`re look to spend about $15

Drift_Monkey 03-18-2010 11:41 AM

I wonder if this is ok to apply on headlights and brake lights?
I hate it when my headlights get so dirty when trailing behind cars on rainy days.

thumper 03-18-2010 11:52 AM

video blocked at work :(

was anyone able to find out if says anything about whether it works on all wheel finishes? ie. chrome, polished, or just painted?

what did the brake dust test involve (again i can't see the video at work)? my worst problem is brake dust that is baked onto the wheel from heat. if they just sprinkled it on a static wheel and then claim it repels.... meh.

zulutango 03-18-2010 01:32 PM

The pitchman looks like the Shamwow guy on valium. Nice Vivaldi background music...soothing.

unit 03-18-2010 01:58 PM

i went out and bought this. if it works half as good or for half as long as advertised i'd be happy.

trust me, i don't think anything would stick on that stuff. imagine rainX times 1000

Iceman-19 03-18-2010 09:58 PM

Yeah, the manufacturer video, meh, all the ones people made with their own tests? i believe it.

That's how much it was at Walmart, too. Walmart loves the number 7, so I think it was actually, $12.97, LOL.

I hope they have it at Superstore. Gotta start using my freaking points. I have like a couple hundred dollars worth in points.

let us know how it works out for you

thumper 03-21-2010 10:44 AM

egh i have no patience whatsover... i went to walmart and bought a can of this stuff. there is a small mail-in discount that is on a little tag hanging from the can, but not all the cans had them so buy accordingly.

the weather was dry yesterday, so i went and washed my dad's car with his painted aluminum wheels and did the treatment. it dried overnight and this morning he was out driving in the rain and i just came back from looking at it and.... surprise! although the car is soaking wet from the rain, the wheels are not only just clean, but they are bone dry as well (tires are wet though!)

as for my wheels... i have clear anodized face with a polished lip. i'm still working out the courage to try it (worried it might stain the lips and i hate polishing them) but it's raining now and i park outside so it's going to be a no-go for awhile for me (sigh). damn pagids keep turning my wheels into charcoal briquettes :flamemad:

DsZ24 03-21-2010 11:35 AM

Found a vid on youtube of it, almost looks fake how it worked lol

Hondaracer 03-21-2010 11:54 AM

^ wow crazy

unit 03-21-2010 04:50 PM

i applied a generous amount on my wheels yesterday around 5pm.
it rained overnight, i drove home in the rain, and checked the wheels this morning.
they look ok, but under inspection you can still see dirty spots. its far from perfect.
still maybe too early to judge.
if they are relatively clean in 4-5 days then i think i'll continue using this product.

TheKingdom2000 03-21-2010 05:02 PM

To the people who applied it to their car...

after 4 wheels, was the can pretty light? Because, I don't see the can lasting for more than a couple cars max?

Strzelec 03-21-2010 05:11 PM

Can anyone else confirm if this actually works?
Looks like a pretty interesting product to try out, and would be great if i didnt have to clean the wheels every 2 days

thumper 03-21-2010 05:18 PM

it's like hairspray, so it's more of a misting rather than a full blown paint spraycan.

i was pretty stingy when i did it. it didn't give it several coats like some of the video demos did. maybe it needs more to last the 4 week claim armorall says.
