Trunk is wet!

ok It was pouring rain at the beginning of this week. I started my car in the morning getting ready to work. As I open the trunk to load some stuff, the carpeting in the trunk was very wet. I can see the channels around the trunk lid all full of water.

How does the channels get so full of water, It usually drains.

I am guessing the wet trunk is from overflow of the water channel along the rear windshield and the top of rear fencer.

I also notice my taillamp housing is also full of water inside (its like a fish tank, i can probably put a goldfish in it), eventhough the lights and turn signals are all functional.

Is this a big problem, what do i need to do, and do I need to worry about rust or anything else?

My car is 10yrs old (1999 model) btw

1st, i'd stop using them lights if possible, that's just going to burn everything

2nd, if you're tailights are goldfish bowl-ing, then you're most likely going to have to take them off, and heat them till it all evaporates (a lengthy procedure at that)

3rd, check the channels, and see that usually there are a couple holes at the end, or some sorta drainage that gets plugged often with leaves and such.

4th, don't take it to honda, this is pretty much a DIY thing, and can be done within an hr or less..

Do I need to replace my tail light housing since it is turning into a goldfish bowl everytime it rains heavily? and how does water go into my trunk from tail light?

It's most likely the Taillight gasket.

it's what i had in my integra.

1 - check on the outside of your headlight, where the plastic meets the back of the headlight, and check the seals, if you see sealant holes, then just get some silicone and plug it up

if not, then:

2- inside the trunk, pull back the liner that covers the back end of your tail lights, see if you see any trails of water in the many holes, if so, just check the gasket/plug/seal behind that hole and apply silicone
