Anyone use a Vanguard ball head?

Currently I'm looking into a new tripod- and I had originally planned on getting a 190XProB + 498RC2 ball head. This was to support a gripped 50D, and although I don't have any heavy lenses I hope to be using a 70-200 2.8 with it eventually.

I was talking to a friend who brought my attention to Vanguard ball heads. When I checked them out on Adorama, I was shocked at the specs for the given price point (~80 less than the 498RC2!). He went on to say that he basically swears by them and ever looked back. He currently has the 190pro legs with a Vanguard SBH-300 ball head and absolutely loves it

Now I'm looking at the SBH-250 : http://www.adorama.com/VGSBH250.html

Anyone have any experience with them? It looks like I'll be saving 80 dollars, and getting a great product in return. It looks like it's a no brainer- anyone have any experience to say otherwise?

Unfortunately I don't have a grip. I take a picture of it and post it upwhen I get home. That way you'll have an idea of what it'll look like.

Thanks so much! Definitely looks like a great deal.. One last question for you- did your 200 come with 2 QR plates? It seems as though all retail Vanguard heads come with 2, and that saves even more if it does.

Goddamn Glazers is like a photographic pornography store - three buildings of goodness to wander through.

Yep! The main sales building is on one corner, the building across the street has lighting, portfolio stuff & film and the building down the street is their rental building, but there is some really nice photography hanging on the walls there.
