Anyone have experience in Ottawa?
 

I landed a Co-op job in the federal government for the summer semester. I have been to Ottawa once when I was young, but I don't remember anything other than it looked like bigger-sized Victoria.

Looks like I will be working in Gatineau, QC. I need to know

1. Where is the best area to live?
2. Where do i find housing with furniture/bed/etc?
3. Is public transportation reliable? or should I buy a cheapass car or a moped?
4. What should I do with my phone plan? Should I get a phone there instead?
5. Is it nearly impossible to find a place with in-house laundry?
6. Are there anything to do other than musuems?
7. what must I bring from Vancouver that Ottawa don't have?

I am planning to live with 2 other friends who landed Co-op jobs there too. So ideally, it would be 3 bedrooms 1.5-2 bathrooms with A/C, laundry, utilities. Budget is about $550-650 each with all those in the apartment/condo/house.

any help is much appreiciated!

ps. yes, i have searched the forums already. But the info was about 2 years ago, i want to see if there are more new ideas/inputs. :thumbsup:
