They didn't go too indepth into this, and I haven't researched much about it, yet how can you stop someone from stealing one of these bicycles? the Bixi velo in Montreal are stupid. It's like 5 bucks for 30 mins of use. No one use them and they take away like 3 parking spots from each street they are on. The bikes aren't used in the winter and only rented out for about 6 months of the year.

Agreed, they're everywhere come summertime and the fact that there are bike routes linking all the subway/Bixi stations and marketplaces makes for an awesome way to get around the city.
