This has digressed into an ethics debate (absolute Truth vs. relative truth) and is bound to run in circles until everyone says "fuck this". |

westerners are the ones that like to start shit in China the most. always accusing China for human right violation and censorship. But in fact they are doing much worse. Invading Iraq and slaughtering innocent civilians, and let druggies and criminal run the city. But has China every accused western countries for that? no, so neither should western countries point their fingers at china. And by the way my parents paid the Canadian government to come here..you have no idea how much money Canada has made off the immigrants. Its billions of dollars to the Canadian economy, nevermind the number of jobs created. So the least you can do is being grateful. The paying immigrants have every right to stay. If you dont like the immigrants here driving up the property value and changing the culture, you are welcome to leave too, I am sure the immigrants will be more than happy to take your property off your hands. |

Sex? Sex is a natural part of human culture...not just any particular country. To suggest that sex is taboo in any way is stupid. We all have sex. We all think about sex. It is archaic to believe that sex isn't an integral part of human operations. Censorship violates a basic human right, one of the many China violates. In China, you have limited freedom in areas such as religion, movement, politics, etc...all of which if the rules are broken, you are screwed. Plus there are heavy incentives for everything else that they cannot regulate. No government should have that amount of control over its population. This doesn't even deal with all the dirty shit that China is involved in behind the scenes. Sorry, but there will be no convincing us that China is civilized. If civility means you can't do anything but be one of the billion drones made in the image of the Chinese government, you need to go look it up in the dictionary. |

Or are you the sort of person that walks into a restaurant and thinks you deserve to eat there for free? Canada has no official involvement in Iraq. We are not part of the ongoing war there. Canada is currently fighting alongside the United States in Afghanistan as the government in that country at the time supported and haboured the terrorists responsible for the WTC attacks of 9/11. Druggies and criminals do not run the city. Until the government of Canada comes out and says the Hell's Angels are now cabinet ministers, you are full of shit. There is ongoing crack-downs on that sort of garbage everywhere in Canada. Whether or not they are effective or not and whether the current punishments are enough to deter criminal activity is debatable but let's be clear...just because criminals are prosperous due to the rules of supply and demand does not mean they are the dominant influence of our country. Your argument has no grounds. |

The definition of being "Civilized" is not for you to decide. In Chinese culture sex is definitely a taboo that people feel embarrased or even feel guilty to talk about. Pornography may even be considered as immoral unitl quite recently that this start to change. If you have been to rural China you will see how conservatively the people there dress, and it may even be considered offensive to display anything pornography related, and this is their culture, which the Chinese don't welcome people to point their fingers at. If one day the Chinese government feel its time to allow pornogprahy then the change will come, but it must come from within. Regarding death penalty..its only justice that people who commit crimes deserve whats coming to them. If you killed someone or are a drug pusher in China you will most likely be executed, and that is justice, and most of the people there support that. Even in highly advanced Asian countries like Japan, South Korea and Taiwan, death penalty still have over 80% of popular support..to them its justice. In Canada a serial killer or drug czar will only be jailed for several year and will never be put down and off he go harming others again. This, to me , is whats truly barbaric. |

You dont know jackshit. I have personal friends with RCMP and he told me how corrupted it is. The RCMP knows very well who the drug dealers are and where they live but 99% of the time they cant do jackshit about it. Because of "lack of evidence"(where evidence is apparent) or bs like "afraid of getting sued" The level of preveilence of drugs here in Vancouer already suggest that the druggies do indeed run the city. They can still go about doing their business and with little chance of being caught. The shooting rage last year and this year further proved my point. You will never see gansters shooting at eachother for a full year like we had last year anywhere in the advanced part of Asia (Japan Taiwan Korea some cities of China), to them it is incredible. As soon as any shooting happens the entire gang will be busted and most will be thrown to jail, unlike in Canada the shooting is still ongoing and will still be with this lousy justice system. do you know that Canada and North America's crima rate is 300% higher than in East Asian nations? (Again Taiwan Japan South Korea. I am excluding China because alot of trolls gonna comment how China's stats is not reliable and etc) so much for being a civilized country. |
Sex is taboo in China, they only have 1.3 billion people and are now capped at 1 child per family unless they want to pay a huge fine or have it aborted...I'd say they like to have sex as much as anyone lol Posted via RS Mobile |

If China is this great country that you paint it out to be, then there would be no censorship. Otherwise, I see a country that harbors a heavily fragmented version of it's ideology that only looks perfect on paper but is restrictive to movements of its people. |

homo sapiens originated from Africa, does that make all of us African? Why does it matter that maybe ethnically they are almost identical? You do realize many Taiwanese people moved the island in the 17th to 19th century? Quote:

I can personally attest to this..I have been working in Shanghai for a Taiwanese company in 2007 and I felt extremely safe both day and night...much safer than Vancouver. during that year I have not seen any gangster or gangsters like kids roaming the street, nor have I seen any drug addicts anywhere be it streets or clubs. There may be cases when police are involved but mostly for petty crimes. Let me remind you Shanghai is a gigantic city with over 20 million population and is the Financial hub of China just like New York for the US. And to keep crime rate this low to me is amazing. And yet the city or the country even is extremely safe...and all my white friends who have been to china agree that its super safe..my friend from London once told me how he rarely walks on the street in London at night because u might be mugged or harrased by robbers or teenagers, but this never happens in Shanghai. To answer to your other comment, China has censorship for a reason. To be frank, the government doesnt think that the population is ready to handle all the information yet. Just like a parent would protect its child from reading too much adult contents because the child is too little to comprehend and may be harmful to the child. When the time is ready I am sure the change will come. If you have been to China and have really made in depth contacts with local Chinese..be it an educated person or a farmer, you will understand that China is not ready for democracy yet. The westerners tried preach to Africa about democracy, and look what happend? Eastern Europe tried to adpot Western democracy and the result is a mess. The Chinese government is very smart to not let that happen again in China. I say a lesson learned. 2005 was the first time I ever set foot in China, before that I am like many of you RSer who thinks China is an evil commy country that I will never go in my entire life. Once I been there my view totally changed. I am sure many of you will be like me once you actually go there. |
