Good places that does film scans?
 

Is there any location that develops film, then turns the picture into a high quality scan? I got my hands on an old Nikon F3, and thought it might be quite fun to play around with. Of course, the quality of film is very nice too.

What are you going to use the images for? You can get very high quality scans at professional labs, but it can get expensive. It might be better to invest in a decent flatbed scanner that scans negatives and slides.

...and don't, DON'T get your film developed at 1 hour places like Costco, London Drugs, Shopper's, etc. They heat the chemicals too much, and this causes the colours to go wonky. It's well worth the extra cost of getting it done at pro labs like G.King, The Lab or ABC Colour.

Well, I was thinking of bringing the F3 when I travel.. and the occasional shot (Like the 1/10000 pictures) that looks epic (ie. framing on the wall worthy).

I don't know the prices either, I also just wanted enjoy the super high quality images on the computer.

About theses scanners that scan the negatives... do they work well?

If you can find a couple of friends who still shoot films, you guys can pitch in to buy a good scanner.

That's what my friend did with their club. They have a nikon 9000 ED. Sure there's better scanners out there, but honestly, the 9000ED is a very close contender for its price.

They work well enough for most purposes, but the dedicated film scanners like the Nikon Coolscan 9000 are much better, but the Nikon Coolscan 9000 costs $2000. It is the best mid-range film scanner currently on the market. The EPSON V700 flatbed is about $600.

Looks like Costco's have stopped developing film, and the labs that senna posted have great prices for processing the film. I just called London Drugs and was quoted $10.49 to process 24 exposures. but that probably includes the 4x6 print though I didn't ask.

that price would include prints. i had 36 exp. film + prints for $12.xx there a while ago

I was talking to someone who was in almost the same situation, he said he ended up just getting prints out of all the film he shot anyways. I can settle for a v500, even a v300 since this is more of a hobby than anything else. Something good to remember that he pointed out was that it costs a lot more to make prints off your negative/slide afterwards.
