Shaw Cable

i've been trying to get a job at shaw, but i am currently a full time student, so im looking for a part time position. the problem lies within shaw, all their part time listings requires u to be "full time" available. wtf?

has anyone successfully gotten hired WHILE attending school and ofcourse with them fully knowing u are still attending school? cause it seems like they dont hire anyone that isnt available 24/7.

raygunpk 03-31-2010 01:28 AM

i also think there is a mandatory one month training period, which you have to go m-f, and that would interfere with school.

tacobell 03-31-2010 08:24 AM

sounds like you are applying for call center, csr?

if you are not able to attend their full training period, then there is almost no chance they'll consider you regardless of your qualifications.

If you miss a day or something during training, that can be worked out, but you gotta be there for the majority of the time.

TOPEC 03-31-2010 10:38 AM

yes im trying to apply for part time csr/tsr/bi-ling csr/bi-ling tsr
they never said anything about training when they called me to ask question.
they just said we cannot hire u because ur still in school,
and we need people that are "full time" available.

Domani 04-03-2010 02:35 PM

just curious wut's their starting pay for csr? biling premium?

i worked thr a while back. i did 6-2am shift. if u do late shifts like that, they will bend over backwards, as not many people wanna work that late. i liked it actually cause after 11, the call volumes dies out, u get paid more, and get to talk to weird people , who have nothing better to do than to ask for credit and are lonely and just wanna talk.
they have a 11-7am shift also...

tool001 04-06-2010 09:40 PM

this guy called once, complaining, that the guide on shaw said some tennis match, but the program showing was something else, and he wants a credit. so i said ok. lets work it out.
u have 60 channels and u are paying around 40 a month. so 60 / 40 is $1.50. i can give u $1.50 credit for that channel for that day.

haha he said he wants a week worth of free cable. told him to f off.

You gave him too much. By my calculations he should've only received $0.02 for the 1 day credit for the 1 channel.

No, the call center is located downtown in the Shaw tower. Right across the street from the convention centre. I used to work there as a TSR.

What's the starting pay for TSR? Does PT/FT differ much in terms of pay and the job itself?

you can apply online http://www.shaw.ca/en-ca/AboutShaw/Careers/

nns 04-12-2010 02:03 PM

I've heard that PT positions actually get almost as many hours as FT, is that true?

Is it easy to promote Shaw products and earn commission? What's the rate like with commission on average?

MikeyStyle 04-14-2010 09:40 AM

for technical support, usually what happens is each month shaw will give you the option to either work 32 or 40 hours a week. with full time, you're just guaranteed 40 hours a week

generally with shaw products, they come with the first month free which is an easy selling feature

the commission varies from what you're able to sell. it can range from $1-$30 i believe on a sale
