Not everybody puts in their real names on their e-mails, and that is, if they are using their real e-mail. Searching e-mail addresses don't always yield out results on Facebook.

And as people have already mentioned, a lot of people, myself included use a dummy e-mail for stuff like this, to avoid people getting too intact with their personal life. Last thing I want is a guy messaging me on Facebook saying "Hey how's it going, you sold me a phone last week, and it works great. You want to hang out sometime?"

It's the 21st century buddy, everybody has dummy e-mails to give out for spam and for people whom they don't want to talk to.
