Lines visible watching digital/HD cable

I've been noticing a faint line on my tv while watching cable. The best way to describe it is that it appears like a distortion from a crack in glass and it runs straight and vertical. it appears on the right side but isn't constantly visible. I have a Shaw HD/Digital box. I thought it might be something to do with broadcasting the tv program to wider flat screen TVs or something but that can't be the case because the same line can be seen at my parent's with their regular tubed tv with shaw digital. anyone know what the deal is?

turn off your motorola cable box.
On the remote, press settings.
Your taken to a set up screen, change the output, if it's on 1080i, change it to 720p.
save settings, turn on cable box again.
if changing the settings removes the line, then the line was due to a firmware update on the box, there's nothing you can do expect wait for another update from shaw.

if changing the settings does nothing, change your component cables or hdmi cables.
hope that helps
