I swear the quality of English education in HK has gone down the tubes since 1997. Back in the 90s I could've sworn fresh Hongers had more of a British accent as opposed to the Beijingish type now. Maybe they're not forcing as much ESL nowadays as the Brits once did?

I sometimes wonder, why do many Asian countries ppl always have problem pronouncing correctly either L or R.
My cousin who lives in Taiwan can't get the word "story" right... no matter how many times I teach him. He always pronounces it as sto"li"
What's making the matter worse is that people tend to fake an accent (like this girl did). For fuck's sake, if you don't have a proper English accent (no matter British, American or Australian)... just stop trying to imitate any of it.

They put English back in recently, IIRC.
