video mentioned that the apartment was where him and his family used to live, but i think he does live there alone now
pretty awesome, would be a pain when you have to use the washroom real bad, or if you come home drunk one night or something, but brilliant and innovative nonetheless

That's awesome! What a great use of space. That room is about the size of my apartment in Tokyo. Actually, my place might be a little bigger...I would've loved to have all that in that shoebox.

moomooCow 04-23-2010 06:37 AM

The main point of that design is not to be comparable to our standards of living here in Vancouver, where we're used to bigger spaces. For those that say I'd rather live in my current house or whatever, well, no shit.... but it's amazing what he has achieved in an otherwise TINY ASS APARTMENT. 330 sqft!

thumper 04-23-2010 06:44 AM

just curious but how much does 330 sqft cost in HK?

depends where in HKG.

Ranges from CDN 500-1500 per square feet (roughly)

ak6 04-23-2010 09:53 AM

pretty sweet. I wonder how much it cost him to rebuild his space like that

On a fitted track with padding in between the contact points of each wall it would be as loud it should be very quiet. Only reason things make noise when they move around is because of friction. If you look at the actual floor plan there is a area that doesn't have moving walls. So yes you can take a shower or take a dump while someone else is using the kitchen.

This can be very nice for someone living alone but probably impossible for more than one person. What would one person do while the other is taking a bath?

Death2Theft 04-23-2010 10:08 AM

Because he has a projection screen? Or simply put he could move his dinner to the tv room after he's done cooking? Or maybe for the simple fact that you can move electrical cables easily but you can't move plumbing around which is why all the rooms that use water are on the outside wall with fixed piping? :gay:

My only question is why in the hell would he put the kitchen behind the TV. Now that's just dumb.

Death2Theft 04-23-2010 10:13 AM

There is a fixed toilet/shower and sink.

If it's those really old buildings like the one he lives in it's worth almost nothing because of the recent building collapsing incident...

yeah but you'd still have to flip up the wall to use it, versus flinging open the door and getting your ass on the toilet

twitchyzero 04-23-2010 11:12 AM

the video didn't show where the toilet bowl was
either way...it'll stink the entire unit up after coming home from thai food

you! 04-23-2010 09:46 PM

yeh that wouldnt work if u were to live with someone else:S

Death2Theft 04-24-2010 03:12 PM

I dont see any doors or walls to flip you need to get your eyes checked.

TheKingdom2000 04-25-2010 03:22 AM

i wonder how much that would cost to make?

i don't think this would work very well in a bigger place? unless each room has it's own transformer thingy
