anyone works at Edgewater Casino?

a friend is considering to work there. can anyone tell me how is it like? is parking still an issue?

ImportPsycho 04-23-2010 05:57 PM

if you dont live in DT, forget about it
there is no employee parking, you street park around
work as what? dealer?

TheSalesman 04-27-2010 07:32 PM

I got hired there but never worked.
Parking will be street parking but its not bad because your friend will be doing graveyard shifts. And there should be some spots around.
Working at a casino is a pretty easy job and if your friend is a dealer, they get breaks every hour or 45mins.

liu13 04-27-2010 09:08 PM

a few frds of mine work at casinos, they say time flies but working graveyards is depressing

JSALES 04-28-2010 08:52 PM

you have to be really smart in math right? or do they teach you a method of some sort on how to calculate correctly?

liu13 04-28-2010 09:35 PM

the math is not that difficult

!Nhan 04-29-2010 09:23 AM

i worked there for a year it's not bad of a job really easy for the amount you get paid but eventually the job just statrts to give you a headache with the constant bitching of people who losing. the good thing is that you get a break once an hr for 15 minutes so it's not that bad. parking still sucks especially on event nights because pacific blvd is shutdown to parking.

imp>dom 05-01-2010 04:20 PM

so there is no off site staff parking is there?

JSALES 05-18-2010 11:09 PM

anyone here work at river rock? how are the interviews at these different casinos? what kind of questions do they ask generally?

!Nhan 05-19-2010 02:57 AM

from when i worked at the rock, they had a group interview with basic questions and math questions and what not, and from there depending on how you do they go set up a face to face interview. basic questions like why you're good for this job. what you can do for them and so forth

10051981 05-23-2010 03:52 PM

any idea what dealers even make per hour? (blackjack, roulette, poker, etc)

!Nhan 05-24-2010 12:46 AM

at edgewater you start off by making 950 at level one which is blackjack, three/four card poker, Caribbean stud. and then level two i think you get a dollar raise or mayb 1.50 which is bacarrat and paigow. level three is roulette. poker is a premium game which you get a dollar for every hour dealt, same goes with craps. most of the money comes from tips

Gh0stRider 06-09-2010 09:58 AM

when i had interviewed for gateway casinos & entertainment, it was with HR first, then with someone in the department. Now, they do a panel interview with HR and Manager of dept you are applying for.

And ironically, worst thing is that they are Unionized
If you know the history of edgewater.. it's combination of BlueBoy+royal diamonds. Royal diamonds shut down the door thanks to dumb ass Union.

ImportPsycho 07-20-2010 09:38 AM

i believe, Grand villa had laid off part-time dealers and demoted supervisors to dealer position, all after union kicked in
