Massive Cocaine Bust in HK HONG KONG — In their largest haul ever, police in Hong Kong have seized 820 pounds (372 kilograms) of cocaine from a suburban house that was reportedly part of a botched drug shipment sent to the southern Chinese territory by mistake. Officers discovered the stash – which has a street value of 337 million Hong Kong dollars ($43.4 million) – while investigating a missing person report in the suburban Fanling district on Sunday, Hong Kong police said in a statement. The cocaine was stored in 26 boxes on the roof of the three-story village house, the South China Morning Post reported Tuesday. The huge stash was the subject of negotiations between the missing person – suspected Dutch-Chinese dealer Chang Ma-ki – and Hong Kong dealers after it was mistakenly shipped to the territory, the Post reported, citing Ted Tsang, the acting chief superintendent of the Hong Kong police's narcotics bureau. A Hong Kong police spokeswoman said Tuesday it wasn't immediately clear where the drugs originated and where they were intended for. The spokeswoman, would only give her surname, Tam. Tam said officers are still searching for Chang, whom the Post said arrived in Hong Kong from the Netherlands with his wife on April 15. In the meantime, Hong Kong police said they have arrested eight people – four men and four women aged 22 to 84 – in connection to the case. Among the arrested suspects, a 52-year-old man has been charged with trafficking in dangerous drugs, while five others are still being detained for further questioning and two have been released on bail. Drug trafficking carries a maximum penalty of life imprisonment and a fine of HK$5 million ($644,000) in Hong Kong. click the link for full details http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/0..._n_553055.html another link http://www.newser.com/story/87133/ho...coke-bust.html |
damn it's worth so much |
techinically its only about 15 million cad locally for that amount of coke |
somebody is gonna get shafted real bad lol |
It's a pretty interesting story. The guy ended up with too much cocaine, and couldn't deal with it. So he was apparently trying to negotiate to send it back (like taking something back to Costco for a refund? :lol). He told his wife to call the cops if he didn't come back from his meeting with whoever... Since he never came back, I'm pretty sure we know what happened... It's like something you'd see in a movie :lol |
^ (inside story) the police fucked up too, they were overwhelmed by the amount of crack and did a media release to claim victory and forgot about the guy they were trying to find (who's probably dead by now). The media shouldn't have known about this whole case until the guy is found/confirmed dead. |
looks like someone havent been paying bribery $ |

at that amount, you'd be paying half street value, if anything totalling maybe 8 or 8.5 million cdn. |
I love it when the police says they don't know where drugs originate from... what were they expecting a "MADE IN ______" sticker on the packaging? /s |

820lbs of cocaine is only 8-10million CAD dollars??? is that because our market has an overwhelming amount of cocaine? that doesn't seem like a lot for some reason... $12,000 per pound? I know this isn't a reliable source but on breaking bad a pound of meth is like $20-40k, is that way off? |

If you just buy a lb of cocaine it will be a lot more then $12k |
