A few 2011's just got dropped off last night and we were playing with them this morning.

Lots of awesome new features that the 2008/9/10 didn't have. It's not 'just' the engine that's improved!

Ford and Hyundai...distinct stepup from a last couple years, if not, decades!
Their cars gottten so so so much better.

The 6.6L Duramax is not a new engine. It doesn't have much more room for improvement. The 6.7L Powerstroke is new, and Ford will have no problem pumping it up to 400+hp/800+trq in the next few years.

The problem with competiting turbo-diesel engines, is that it's real easy to wait for the competition to come up with a new engine, and then you can up the boost on yours just enough to post better numbers. However that's the face of it. What's the torque curve like? What kind of final drive ratio are they running? What happens to fuel economy?

Here's something amazing: Our 2011 6.7L diesel 4x4 F350 Crew Cab King Ranch on the corner here, gets better fuel economy than a new 2010 Ranger 4.0L V6!!!!

The new engines must be way better, my dads 06 standard gets 12 mpg with a mix of hwy and forest roads and my buddies 04 dully with 35s gets about the same, but all in town.

This is the first diesel engine made by Ford, thus why it has better MPG and more torque. The old diesels were made by international, truthfully the 2009 engine sucked, very bad MPG and I've experienced a few problems with it.

I'd rather have a Dodge 3500 Megacab, I sat in the one at the Vancouver auto show, god damn that thing is HUGE inside. Btw that volvo truck doesn't count as everyday persons truck, I really doubt it has any MPG at all, lol.

Even though the new duramax makes more power on paper, the new ford has a higher tow and payload capacity: 20000lbs (GM) vs 21600 (ford).

What sucks about these new diesels is the whole Urea injection (Yes I know it's mandated by emissions laws). So every few tanks of gas, you have to remember to fill your Urea tank. How much does that cost to fill? They should take the cost of that into account when calculating economy...

The urea is cheap, like $7-$15 bucks for a 4L jug. It gets topped up at every oil change. (8,000-12,000km)

Yeah, thats the sad thing about the duramax is still the same design, just different mapping I believe. But what i'm really looking for is how reliable the new scorpion powerstroke is. If the mileage is up and reliability is alot better than the 6.0L, I just might give up my 2500hd and go for a F450 Harley. btw, I own a 7.3L F-450 with 360,000km it hasnt given much trouble. cept it leaks more than I can piss in a day.

Hey Rich, i heard that the new F450 is going back to 8 lug rims?

In my 2011 order guide, the wheel photo for the F350 dual rear wheel and F450 shows the same 8 lug wheel and same order code.
