Chile boy 'kills brother' over PlayStation row

Police said the boy had told them that "things got out of control"

A 16-year-old boy in Chile has been charged with killing his elder brother in a fight over the use of a PlayStation, police have said.

The boy was angered when his 18-year-old brother turned on the games console without his permission.

He allegedly grabbed a knife from the kitchen and stabbed him in the chest.

Police said the youth had told them that "things got out of control". He could face five years in prison under the charges filed.

Homicide investigator Gilberto Opazo said the brothers had been abandoned by their mother and lived in care for 10 years before a Belgian woman took them in.

She was visiting Belgium when the death occurred, he added.

sad story, but what does this have anything about Playstation and their advertising?

woob 04-28-2010 09:44 PM

Seriously, that kid's gotta show some restraint.... But also WTF only 5 years for stabbing your bro in the chest? Where is the justice?

Also, it's "stoops", not "steeps".

jello24 04-28-2010 10:40 PM

do you mind telling me where exactly the article talks about Playstation advertising?

the way I read it some 16-yo kid just needs serious anger management issues.

StealthFighter 04-29-2010 12:16 AM

how is that advertisement?

people have killed over an xbox too

Quote:

The case stems from a 2004 incident in which Troy Victorino, 29, Michael Salas, and Jerone Hunter, both 20, entered a house where Erin Belanger, 22, and five friends were sleeping and proceeded to kill them with baseball bats.

The prosecution argued that Victorino was infuriated when Belanger asked him to leave her grandmother's house, where he had been staying. Belanger held on to some of Victorino's belongings, which included an Xbox, further enraging Victorino, who gathered three accomplices to carry out the murders.

rofl why in the hell did you guys think it was really part of playstation advertising? lol

the only reason i thought of saying that is BBC had "playstation" in bold in the link

and when you go to the story it just had a Huge picture of a PS3, instead of anything else relating to the story.. (bigger than whats there now) like the family etc

Marco911 04-29-2010 05:27 PM

The child was abandoned by his mother and is likely a product of criminal genes which means that the child will likely become a career criminal.

elwell 04-29-2010 05:43 PM

I didn't even click the link so you kinda messed up the point you were trying to make. You should have forced traffic to the site by not quoting the entire news story and by making a comment regarding the giant picture. The picture and text are subtle things to begin with, and you made no reference to them or the thread title in the body of your post and hence, you got some fails.

Oh, and PlayStation didn't even do any of the things you pointed out (picture, bold text), so your thread title is still misleading and sensational, imo.
