aside from finding the appropriate studs, what do you guys recommend to use for holding up the wheels and where can I get it?

Custom make one with a cast off spindle. Any metal shop will be able to do it. Also measure the diameter of the rim, so you can make a back plate to reduce scuffing.

It might look cool, but not practical at all..

Imagine the insurance you will need to pay, if one of those things fall off and dent your car. (A tire is at least 50lb or more)
Also if you take the wheel off you have to be extra careful as the tire will scuff up your paint in an instant.

THIS was the response from the guy who posted the above pic.

I used the largest L brackets that I could find at Lowes, I think they are rated at 85lbs each. They have three pre-drilled holes for hanging. I was sure to find the studs in the wall, marked them, made sure they were all level and measured from the bottom of the floor to make sure they all were at the same height. Once they were on the wall I used some plumbing pipe foam to put in the top of the L bracket so the wheel would not be resting on metal. Gave the wheels a coat of wax, shined the tires and the rest is history.
